Introduction: Floss Box Keychain

Picture of Floss Box Keychain

I am always in need of a headphone splitter, but I never seem to have it with me when I need it. If it put it on my keychain, I thought, I'd never be without it. I designed this to hold a small headphone splitter, but many things could fit inside of it.

Step 1: Get Parts/Tools

Picture of Get Parts/Tools

1.Old Floss Box
(I'm sure you have 7 of these that are unopened, and we all know why.)
2.Keychain Ring
3.The item you will put in the box
(In my case the splitter)

1. Single Hole Punch
(I used a paper hole punch, but I'm sure it would have been much easier with a leather punch)

Step 2: Get Punching

You will make two hole punches on the floss container. Be sure not to put any pressure on the box other than the area in which you are punching a hole. It will crack.

You will make one hole punch on the front, top, left side.

The next punch will be on the the left side near the top. Make sure the keychain ring will be able to go through these two holes.

Step 3: Put the Ring In

Pretty self-explanatory.

Step 4: Attach to Your Keys and Put the Item In

Again, no need for explanation.

You could probably do the same thing with one of those small altoids boxes.

i have the same splitter... cool cool concept but you may need a better latch or it could plop open

I just tried to keep it simple. I'm sure you could do something else with it. Got an idea?

how about...adding decorations...i know...!!!!...say if the dental floss box is slightly bigger than a tic tac can literally get the tic tac box fitted inside the floss box, make some connection from the bottom of the floss box lid to the bottom of the tic tac box, decide on the 'front' of the tic tac box, then using some specialised tool, cut out a section on the chosen front. now, my friend, you have a 'rise up ('automatic') thing that carries your item inside the floss gives more 'anti crush damage' to the item inside the floss box...extra box strength...:S...mayb i should make one...o look! a tic tac box! right on my i will need a floss box...=P ...i'll pioneer it...will notify u if it works...or u can pioneer...i dun mind :P

Excellent recycling project. Could one use a drill to make holes? Also to secure I would use a nifty black hair band. Yes ANYTHING could go in here if it fits. I love it SO much! Great idea!!! thank you!

i dont understand!

lisarea (author)2007-01-01

I have the same dental floss! And I'm definitely going to do this with the box. It looks like just the right size for carrying around spare memory cards.

Oh, I just thought of something else: Those little Post It notes look like they'd just fit, too. Probably not with the keyring, though. It's a good thing I floss my teeth a lot, because I might need a few of those boxes.

pretty simple and creative. nice work!

An oddly misleading title - you never indicate it contains a headphone splitter! Though I suppose it could be used for anything.
