Introduction: Foam Gliders
Hi all! My name is Zlatko and I want to share to you all some my projects. So first I am inspired by Sonicdad.com foam glider crosair but when I saw a lots of comments eg. "free plans please !" and so, I decided make free plans for kids only :) So prepare tools and materials and print PDF files and enjoy!
Step 1: First Step Tools
Tools you need is :
1. a good ruler app 30 cm
2. a stick glue or some other glue NOT ABRASIVE TO FOAM!
3 . hot glue gun
4. extazo knife or other scalper
Step 2: Step Two Materials
For materials you need a foam sheet 6 mm thick. You can buy in hardware store its called "Izo floor", "Arbitron" maybe different but usually is used for floor isolator and it is green color. Also you need a washers 20 mm big and 1.5 mm thickness you can also use a coins but weight MUST BE 4 to 6 grams! And a scotch tape.
Step 3: Step 3 Print Files
Here are PDF files for Corsair, Spitfire and Messer 109. Corsair has gulf wing so here is a picture of type of wings. Spitfire has dihedral and messer polyhedral. You can experiment the angle. PS: here is a original download for free sonicdad corsair and some new stuff from me.
Step 4: Step 4 Make
First glue paper plane in one, then glue it on the foam. Cut the foam whit scalper and white window where says "cut out". Lets make wings. To make wings first fold where is the line. Use wing angle tool! Then tape one wing whit scotch tape and fold the tape backwards. Take other wing and make a angle app 30 degrees. Take 5 washers and tape it together. Make a whole for washers and put them there. Then whit hot glue gun glue it from bottom and hold. Glue two parts of plane together, squeeze through wings and put a fine line of hot glue on joints to make it solid. Here is a video from youtube its very similar and more simply to explain. Plain is finished. For flying problem use elevators but plane should fly strait like it is. Enjoy!!
