Sweet Rolls for the Dragon Born and friends, from The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, following as close to the in game recipes as possible.  Warning, abuse of moon sugar can cause tooth decay. Use at your own risk!

When you say 2 sticks of butter, what mass is that? In Britain sticks of butter vary by company...
1 stick = 1/2 cup
2 sticks = 1 cup
Thanks :)

When I saw your profile pic I literally stopped and stared, thinking : "THAT IS AWESOME! :D" So yeah. That brightened my day along with this majestic sweet roll recipe.

Just finished making a batch. Didn't have a bundt pan so I used a cupcake pan. The bottoms stuck just a touch and the tops ripped off but they did so in a perfectly flat mannor so it looked like I planned it that way, I just got double the deliciousness!

This was a wonderful recipe, I will be keeping this one forever :D

These look tasty. Just a shame they're not the same scale and size as the ones the game. Not that they need to be, as it would be overkill, but the ones in the game are almost as big as one's face. Also, anyone notice that the sweet rolls are a nod to Fallout 3? My wife pointed it out to me. At the beginning of Fallout 3, your sweet roll is stolen at your birthday party party. Hence the origin of "What's the matter, did someone steal your sweet roll?" that you here throughout the game.

It'd be hard to get something that big to bake consistently! As well as probably giving you a major stomach ache from all that sugar. I was just playing Fallout 3 a few days ago and noticed the reference!
I'm uncertain about the inconsistent baking on a larger one. Scale up the amount of ingredients and use a large (or whatever size you prefer) bundt cake pan.
rachaelwhitaker (author)  SG1Oniell1 year ago
The recipe would be fine in a regular bundt pan, the problem is the sweet rolls in the game are tall, not wide. About the size of a fist, but as tall as someone's face. They could be made that size theoretically, but it'd be hard not to over bake the shallow parts and actually pull them out of a pan that deep.
That question is actually one of the questions you're asked at the beginning of Elder Scrolls 3: Morrowind.
Being as both the Fallout and Elder Scrolls game series are from Bethesda, you may have to look back even further than Morrowind to find the original reference.
Genius idea!! Love it!!

Doesn't this need some leavening ingredient, like baking powder? Or does it rise by itself? Thanks for your cleverly written recipe.
rachaelwhitaker (author)  nanaverm1 year ago
The key is whipping enough air into the butter when you are creaming it, as well as thoroughly beating in each egg. You can add in a tsp of baking powder for insurance though.

Hmm, may have to try to make a Gluten Free version

Never played. What makes it "Skyrim"?
rachaelwhitaker (author)  n0ukf1 year ago
You can bake these in the game if you gather the ingredients and build an oven.
Not to mention the popular phrase from guards in game "Let me guess...someone stole your sweet roll." along with other references.

On a side not, Looks great and easy to make too, i may have to try this out some time.

If I am not mistaken, Moon sugar is closer to crack than to sugar, isn't it?
rachaelwhitaker (author)  rjbatc1 year ago
Moon sugar comes from cane plants like real world sugar, but it is supposed to be highly addictive (which could be argued about real sugar as well). Skooma, which is made with moon sugar, is closer to the real world equivalent to crack or cocaine.

Actually, it's not just from Skyrim but from the entire The Elder Scrolls series, it was first reported on The Elder Scrolls: Arena if i'm not mistake.
rachaelwhitaker (author)  Misac-kun1 year ago
Skyrim's the first game where you can actually bake them yourself though.
The days you needed to steal sweet rolls are long gone (or not :3)

Very nice. Witty writing style too
Sounds tasty, one of these days I have to get around to playing that game.
Yummers! So delicious and so cute as little bunt cakes :)
