OK... Soooooo... I know this is a single shot rifle, and I know it isn't the easiest to load, but hear me out! OK?

I had an idea of making a gun that would initially hit a round, then hit it again (kind of like a hammer gun inside a bolt.)

although none of the original ideas worked, this one did... and does. it has the main ram hit it and push it forward, and the other ram slows down a bit after that... the round slows down enough to make contact with the ram, and kind of works like a compound Newton's cradle. I'm getting over 100 ft of range with normal rods, and easily 150 to 160 with fin ammo.

I now have several bandages on my fingers from working on it and having the trigger mech fail while working on the barrel... so sorry if it isn't as pretty as it could be, I need to set them down for a couple days now and get feeling back into my fingers.

now... onto the specs!

range: read the description about 4 inches above this depending on what device you're using to read this

power: holy crap, I have holes in my wall!

comfort: very comfortable, as much as I can tell through my leather welding gloves

sights: very nice, quite accurate

accuracy: fantastic, I can hit a CD at 50 feet easy

looks: I'm biased as can be and right now I'm afraid of the thing no matter how good it is now...just look at the picture and judge for yourself

reliability: pretty good, sometimes breaks parts, and if the trigger goes you need to make sure your fingers are out of the way when you put the round in otherwise the meat grinder will be something you'll feel quite comfortable letting 2 year olds play with while plugged in

build time: if your fingers don't get caught, probably around an hour and a half...

why I said forward assist: yes I know that on a real gun it's just to help seat a round that didn't do so correctly, on this one it sets the round up for the secondary firing

and now, have fun!

disclaimer: NEVER IN THE HISTORY OF MANKIND HAS SOMETHING AS LETHAL AS THIS BEEN INVENTED... ONLY POINT IT AT PEOPLE YOU REALLY WANT TO KILL AND KNOW THE STATUS OF CAPITOL PUNISHMENT WITHIN YOUR STATE BEFORE DOING SO

Step 1: Building It!

all in one step... I'm terrible at instructions so if someone wants to make one that would be fantastic!

anyway... advanced builders have fun!

and sorry for the terrible pictures, and the fact that they may be out of order is because I am entering this is the contest and had to remake it

Woot! Yay! (pro membership AND a t-shirt! What could possibly be better...other than addition to my knex collection...ooooh whooopeeee I got that too!)

WooaaaW ! Congratulations ! You are a finalist ;)

thanks!

Congrats on being selected as a finalist!

I just found out now! (yay!)

Thanks, I really thought my pullpup was more revolutionary mechanism wise...but oh well :P

initial pics of the new mag feed design. advanced builders feel free to try it, I'll be posting instructions later this week for everyone else.

LOL, worst disclaimer EVER.

here's a firing demo: https://docs.google.com/file/d/1s2No0KgQLzWanoEKTltOrGATolVqQiR-BA/edit?usp=docslist_api

ignore the first shot, it got shifted too far away from the bolt. the second is a better demo
Yup... not much avoiding injury with this one, have to make sure it's only pointed at terrorists and such :p
NEW MAG DESIGN!

Looks good!

just got it working with a magazine! finally! so far it works like a double bolt action pin gun, with a 1.7ft or so pin pull (pull back pin, pull back ammo loading bolt... pull back loading bolt multiple times for shotgun.) still working just a bit on the feed of it, but so far it loads a round and chambers it without catching any other rounds about 60 percent of the time. hoping to make a new instructible tomorrow if all goes well. wish me luck!
now that I'm on vacation I'm working really hard to get in a repeating bolt load mech for a magazine and such. stay tuned!

Hey it's a cool gun and has earned my vote! Let's see if you win!

thanks man! maybe one of the lower prizes, I mean I really can't compete with some of the ball machines and roller coasters.

Anyone want me to redo this ible or is it ok?

The disclaimer probably hasn't seen a range test from the SRV3.....

Regardless, neat concept! I'd like to see a video of it functioning if that'd be possible.

what I like is that it gets kind of/sort of slingshot ranges while only being maybe 3 feet long... pretty sure the srv3 is like 6 or 7 ft or something like that
right there as a Google Drive link :p

and yes... I know the other slingshots are really powerful like that... but this is like a .22 compared to Airsoft, while the true slingshots are 50 cal rifles. kind of had to draw the distinction somewhere so people don't confuse it with just being a powerful ram rifle
really hoping to redo the instructions fully, plus include the changes I've made to the gun (this gun is more comfy than any gun I've tried so far... and that's saying a lot!) and such. should have them up by the end of Saturday at the latest!
probably going to take this apart and try building something else :)

don't worry... it'll be really cool
How does the mech work can you explain a little more
one pin hits the other, making for a temporarily faster movement, the bolt slows down and leaves the round, round slows down and gets hit by the bolt coming through...making for a double acceleration, so two times the force... kind of

Does it work kind of like this? https://www.instructables.com/id/Knex-Two-Stage-Rai...

kind of, but like square rooting the bulk and such, as it only has one real bolt, it just acts like two by hitting the bullet twice

This is a really cool idea! But the gun looks very messy still this sounds like it could be very useful.

still working on the messiness...if you've seen my other projects you know I don't really know much how to do so :P

what parts need cleaning up?
can anyone else check the contest and see if this appears as an entry? I'm not seeing it there
