Does anyone know where I could get free lasers from?
Sep 19, 2010. 10:58 PMxarlock667 says:
Please do not take this the wrong way, nothing is implied, but the dump. People throw lasers away all the time from old PC's, DVD players, Blueray Players, etc... Ask your garbage man, and offer a finders fee for good ones.

also not sure if its 4MHz or 20-30MHz but its one of the two.
Apr 29, 2009. 3:13 PMWesley666 says:
true dat. Also the flyback works! finally I got a 1 cm arch from it using a 12v wall adapter (120vac in Canada) and a transistor from a really really old radio. I hooked up some more transistors in another configuration in seris with the first and somehow got a 2.5 cm arch. still trying to free sample the right transistor for optimum performance though. Also a website that has free samples has transistors Hz level. I looked and most transisotrs that work well are in the 4 MHz range but what if you had a 10 GHz transistor? I know that the flyback probably would never be able to operate that fast but would it get it going as fast as it could (highest Hz level would produce the biggest arches)?

I was going to post it couldn't hurt to go state your case, and see what comes of it. All they can say no, but what the heck you ark asking for something for free, though what you are asking for didn't cost them anything

Add Skiffy, they have small components for free samples and such, website: skiffy.com I Got LED holders or something from them and the just sent me a catalog full of stuff and they apparently love giving future customers samples, so remmeber to buy something(not that expensive, kindof).

know anywhere to get breadboard samples from? or is that not considered an electronic part?
Mar 3, 2009. 3:11 PMfrankmon says:
Getting parts for free is cool but breadboards are tools that everyone involved in electronics should own. Besides, most suppliers are starting to require credentials before they kick down with samples. You have to have a domain name (www.iamanengineer.com , not www.geocities.com/iamanengineer ) at the very least but most require a resale number. TI is pretty cool with their sample policy but the form factor on most of their chips is pretty high end requiring professional SMT tools and equipment. Some surface mount stuff can be done with just a soldering iron but most require hot-air and/or oven to assemble. Just my 2 cents
