I started with the free pattern found on Patons's website called "Monkey Around Sock Monkey", but picked a different color scheme.  I also made the tail thinner and longer and one color to make it less phallic looking after many comments from friends.  But I wanted a French Sock Monkey (or at least a pretentious one) to drink wine with, so he of course needed a beret and scarf.
