Step 1Gelled Flame Fuels Animal Blood Systems

Gelled Flame Fuels Animal Blood Systems
There's a lot of fascinating and some truly insane material to be found in military training manuals.

The published recipe refers to animal blood, but it seems like human blood would be plentiful after looking through army manuals full of diagrams of how to stab people in the eyes in a knife fight.

This recipe for making napalm from blood comes from the Army's "Improvised Munitions Handbook".
Published during the Vietnam war. Apparently someone thought that the techniques being used against us by the Vietnamese weren't good enough and we should develop and publish better ones. The book uses non-metric units, so it's useful for equipping attackers in Liberia, Myanmar, and the United States, which are the only countries that still use those units.

The Recipe for Making Napalm from Blood:

"This type of fuel adheres more readily to the target and produces greater heat concentration."

"1. Preparation of animal blood serum:
a. Slit animal's throat by jugular vein. Hang up-side down to drain.
b. Place coagulated (lumpy) blood in a cloth or on a screen and catch the red fluid (serum) which drains through.
c. Store in a cool place if possible.
CAUTION: Do not get aged animal blood or the serum into an open cut. This can cause infections.
2. Pour blood serum into jar, bottle, or other container and add gasoline.
3. Add the salt (or other additive) to the mixture and stir until a gel forms."

Here's what napalm looked like when we used it in Vietnam

Actually, although it was used to almost an extreme extent during the Cold War, during Vietnam and the Korean war, Napalm is actually not as flammable as gasoline. It burns about as hot as a gas lamp (the kerosene lamps) and are only dangerous if you are stupid enough to go and stick your hands in the molten plastic/gasoline goo that it becomes after it starts burning. My grandfather introduced me to the stuff back when I was 7, and just called it "Boy scout's firestarter"

I love how the drawings indicate the soldier swinging the helmet too the time to put on another cap.  Also I'm at a loss why the soldier on the offensive wouldn't cut the throat of his target right off, to me the helmet to the head seems to be risky first, unneeded first step, if the target wasn't rendered unconscious. Also depends on finding an enemy soldier nor wearing their own helmet. One has to wonder if the military release material to make it easier to spot wannabes? I wonder what delivery systems are recommended for improvised napalm?

Static,  The drawing of the guy conking the other guy with a helmet is part two of a series of drawings.  The sequence goes, you are the stealthy RANGER sneaking up behind a sentinel.  The first thing you try is grabbing the helmet and yanking it back...snapping the neck of your enemy and leaving him to die or become a quadriplegic.  Unfortunately, lots of people watch John Wayne movies as a kid and do not wear their chin strap (boy, never a SGM around when you need one).  So when you try the helmet neck snap, you just end up with a helmet in your hand...so the only logical thing to do is smash the skull of your enemy.  That is what is portrayed in the drawing.
May 31, 2010. 6:52 AMstatic says:
Thanks for the explanation. I wonder how many of the regulars in the armies that the US may battle have seen John Wayne movies? As you explained it, not having the chin strap  on  in this case may be an advantage. With a bit of luck the person attacked may have bit of a chance to move out of harms way when he feels the helmet come off.
Jun 1, 2010. 5:59 AMNano_Burger says:

There are a few situations where having a firmly strapped helmet could be a detriment.  This case and "helmet loading" are the only ones I can really think of.  Helmet loading is when a pressure wave from an explosion gets "caught" in your helmet and literally rips your head off.  I think only explosive ordinance disposal guys worry about that.  These are very unlikely scenarios though and it is always wise to wear your helmet with the strap fully attached.  Something like seatbelts....only on very rare occasions do they do any harm, so better to have them used all the time.

Wow! Sounds like one of those instances where if a safety measure contributes to your death you may be dead regardless. Anyway I found FM 31-50 in a free download, judoinfo.com/pdf/FM21-150.pdf. As a hemiplegic crip civilian I'll never use the offensive stuff, but some of the defensive stuff might be doable.

Where are you getting this information from? The largest snake ever recorded was 22 feet long and it was a buremese python. Even a larger buramese python wouldnt break your legs, if they were capable of that they could easily break rib cages making their jobs easier which they can't do. They can simply stop you from inhaling. Many people have lived from large constrictor type snake attacks even after passing out from suffication.

The largest snakes are FAR longer than 22 feet, which is a low average for an anaconda. According to moot of the surviving victims of constrictors, suffocation is only part of the problem, and damage from popping blood vessels and massive intraocular pressure can leave permanent damage. I've kept very large snakes, and don't recommend it. It's extremely dangerous, and only 2 people should ever handle anything over 10-12 feet. Seldom does anything go wrong, but if it does, you're probably toast.

We do not go around making "blood napalm" Pete. Some times the Army made instructions with no practical sense or use, though it sounds like a fun distraction. This book has been out of the system for a very long time. I have no historical reference to “blood napalm” being used but do know of sticky charges being used. That is where you shove a block of C4 with blasting cap a in a sock covered in axial grease. Then you can slap it against the drive wheel of a tank and blow the track off. Often times the drawings were done with the use of models and they captured their faces and expressions well. We have a monthly publication that deals with preventive measures and is done all with cartoons. It is an excellent tool for a middle level leader who wants to get the idea across as fast as possible with little work. I just found the instructables and am stoked to see such a great combination of minds. I look forward to reading as many as I can.

Surprizing fact about that photo of kids running away from the village in background is despite mainstream media assertions at the time, the napalm strike was launched from an A1E Skyraider, prop-drive plane flown by ARVN air force pilot while attempting danger close support to south Viet soldiers engaged with hardcore NVA regulars, and not by Americans who got blamed for bombing.

And does financially very well for her little talks, too, while trying to give the impression that Americans did this to her. She knows better, of course, but is very, very cagey with her words to avoid the outright lies that make up the myth surrounding this photo. She was hit by a Vietnamese pilot that missed his mark, badly, while attacking the North Vietnamese troops that were attacking her city. It was ordered by her own countrymen (25th ARVN Division), and she'd be dead today if American military doctors hadn't taken care of her after Vietnamese doctors gave up, saying she'd die from her burns. The only Americans involved in this incident were her US Army doctors. Most of the "facts" surrounding this incident are nonsense, but it's become an article of faith amongst the liberal faithful who want it to be true -- even though the truth is easily located with a simple internet search.

Took the words right out of my mouth. The faithful left is funny how they sucker themselves into believing lies, and they don't care as long as it fits with their "Hate America" agenda.

liberalism is a metal disorder. I love telling them that "one day they will see the error in there ways" just before they experience their own undoing. they freak out every time.
Mar 5, 2010. 5:53 PMstatic says:
The America most conservatives would like to see today couldn't exist if conservatives ruled the day for the past 200 or years or so. In the event you are an American citizen, catholic, protestant, muslim and are happy to be so thank the liberals who suffered and died to bring about change over the past 2000 years or so. Otherwise we would be of the old order Jewish faith languishing under a tribal monarchy. Of course I use the words conservative and liberal in their meaning as defined by the first entry for them in the dictionary.

Jul 7, 2007. 9:12 PMZythen says:
Actually just to clear it up, a snake can't just spit you back out, also a 22 burmese isn't the largest snake. When a snake starts to swallow it has to finish, it can then regurge, however until the "food" passes the throat their muscles won't allow them to spit it back out. So that begs to ask the question, where in fact are you getting your information from downgrade? do you own a snake? The record is into the 30 foot range, and a reticulated python is bigger than a burmese. Just to clear it up as far as mass an anaconda is bigger than a burmese also so if you're going to call someone out on something maybe you should do your research. Just go have yourself some humble pie with a nice can of hushmouth, be warned it may contain stfu.
