Introduction: Frosted Circus Animal Cookies

About: Loving mom of two beautiful boys, obsessive compulsive confetti user & passionate foodie!

These delicious cookies are a take on one of my favorite childhood treats, "Mother's Circus Animal cookies". Each cookie has been individually dipped in high quality chocolate and then sprinkled with Jumbo Multi-Color Nonpareils.

These cookies are perfect for any circus themed birthday party or even a baby shower.

Enjoy!

Step 1: Ingredients & Prep

Ingredients:

4 Boxes Barnum's Animals Cookies

Jumbo Nonpareils

1lb. White Candy Melts

1lb. Pink Candy Melts

Prep:

2 baking sheets or cutting boards lined with wax paper

Separate cookies into containers- 2 boxes for Pink/ 2 boxes for White

Pour sprinkles in small bowl

Step 2: Melt White Chocolate

To melt the chocolate, create a double boiler by filling a pan halfway with water and placing a metal proof bowl on top. Make sure the heat is medium-low to low to prevent the chocolate from burning. Stir with a heat-proof spatula until chocolate is melted and silky.

Remove from heat.

Step 3: Frost & Sprinkle the Cookies

To frost the cookies, make sure you have your prep station set up with the cookies, melted chocolate & sprinkles next to you. Allow the chocolate to cool for a minute, but try and work quickly. You can use a spatula to drizzle the chocolate over the cookies or dip them into the bowl with your fingers. Make sure to coat each side of the cookie. Place cookie on the wax paper and sprinkle with the nonpareils. If you see an area that hasn't been covered in chocolate, use your index finger as a paintbrush and cover it.

If the chocolate starts to get hard, place the bowl back onto the heat. I didn't encounter any problems, but chocolate is very temperamental and I have had this problem before.

Step 4: Repeat Step Three With the Pink Choclate

Melt the chocolate over a double boiler. Remove from heat and coat with the chocolate. Sprinkle with the nonpareils. Place on wax paper.

Step 5: Enjoy!

Store the cookies in an airtight container to maintain maximum freshness.
