# Fun Cardboard Toy

This is my first Instructable. I will show you how to make a Cardboard toy. I didn't make it up, and I don't know what it's called, but you can turn it inside-out forever, or until it breaks.

## Step 1: Gathering materials

What you will need to make this project is:
Cardboard
Scotch tape
Scissors
Something to measure with (I used a measuring tape, but I would recommend a ruler)
Something to color with (Like Colored pencils or markers)
Pen or Pencil (Pencil recommended)

## Step 2: Make lines and color cardboard

Make a rectangle that is three times longer than it's width I made one that was10 1/2 inches by 3 1/2 inches. Next, divide the rectangle into three Squares that are 3 1/2 inches by 3 1/2 inches, by making two lines that stretches the width of the rectangle. Then draw one line down the length of the rectangle in pencil (this is the only line that should be erased) Next, draw an "X" on all six of the small rectangles. Then draw Three lines across the width of the rectangle, cutting the squares in half. Finally erase the line that stretches the length of the biggest rectangle and start coloring. (It should help if you look at the picture) There should be four different colors. (After you understand how they are put together you can draw different pictures on them)

## Step 3: Cutting and folding

Cut out the biggest rectangle. Fold all the lines (one at a time) so that you can see the part you colored. Unfold it.

Here is a picture of one I made. I drew it in AutoCAD, and hatched the different areas with different patterns. I just printed it on regular printer paper then covered it in clear contact paper. It's a little bit flimsy/flexible, but it works fine. I think if I would have put contact paper on the back as well as the front, it would have been better.

That looks very good. Thank you for sharing.

Thanx. I was told that by my old math teacher, but I looked them up and they weren't the same. I guess there must be different kinds.

You seem to have uploaded all your images as bitmaps, but with the tmp extension. You need to reload them with the bmp extension so that they show up properly on the screen.

I think it's fixed now Thank you.
Kiteman in reply to cantthinkof bettername5 years ago
You're welcome - you might as well remove the tmp files - they're just in the way.
