Many DIY projects have noble goals behind them. You can improve the world, learn a vanishing artisanal craft, or get the exact look you want without someone else messing it up in translation. Then there are the ridiculous projects that won't save the planet, improve your mileage, make your hair shinier, or do anything useful at all, but that's exactly the point! Who wants to be so practical all the time? That can wear you out and make you just a bit grumpy every morning.

Sure, you can recycle that cardboard, but why not turn it into a costume instead? You can help your compost with your newspaper, but wouldn't you rather wield a magic wand with it? So go and make that desktop trebuchet or decorate your house with Blinkybugs. Take a holiday from worrying about the function and just explore for a little while. You'll enjoy it. Trust me on this.
