Step 4: Painting the deer

I primed the parts first.
Seeing it is going to be in the outdoors, you will definitely want to prime the deer.

Then I used a GLOSS white to paint the deer.
But, I suppose you could use your color of choice!

I added the angle brackets at this time, too!

The final paint was the red on Rudolph's nose.
I just used spray paint for that!
Hope the curve in pic 5 is the lens and not the roof..
yeah, that happend when I stitched all the photos together.
Took about 6 photos to make that big photo!
Yeah, Yeah, nah. We have strong winds coming through here, and I wouldn't like my roof pulled away like a sleigh. It is a good Instructable though, and maybe I could reduce it and put "spots" on the deer in the form of holes to allow the the wind to pass right through it. I would love to see your deer in real life, but we live too far apart. LOL
WOW! This project is no joke, its HUGE!! Great work!
Thanks for you comment!

Have a great Holiday!
the instant i saw this i thought- wow that is a good snowdeer. but i later notices the flatness. is it possible to use the deer like a skeleton and cover it with snow. then all will be saying - god how do you get it to stand up
suppose you could make a skeleton and cover with some cloth or something.
Happy Holidaze!
Nicely Done

Now that Rudolf is done all you need are Dasher and Dancer and Prancer and Vixen - don't forget Comet and Cupid and Donner and Blitzen! - A Giant Sleigh for Santa and Merry Christmas!!!!

Great Job - Great Instructable!!

I will probably make one a bit smaller for my daughter's doll...

Cheers
thanks for the kind words!

Happy Holidays!
Where is the jpg? How about a template file in pdf? Lifesize or with inch marks so that scale can be maintained.
The .jpg is in step 3. All to scale.
Just blow up the .jpg to the size you want.

I also included the Sketchup model, which you can download from Google 3Dwarehouse.

I did now want to publish the vectors for copyright issues.

Hope this helps.
Glad you liked it, and don't forget to give me a vote!

Happy Holidays!
Well, that does help explain how the reindeer can pull the sleigh with Santa and all the toys for the good boys and girls all over the world. Eight tiny reindeer, humphf! More like NINE GINORMAS reindeer. Or is it "ginormous"?

Anyway, it's big deer!
Great work! I'm hoping to build one for next year. I'm sure our neighbors will "enjoy" it ;)
that is AWESOME ! My holiday is Halloween but this had me thinking hmmmm.. unfortunately its not in the budget
