A friend told me, that he have problems with his garden bench. If the ground wet, the small legs sinks into the ground and if the ground dry, the garden bench wobble ... So here is my solution, I designed big garden bench foots with internal springs to compensate the uneven ground ...

Step 1: Design and Print ...

I used Fusion 360 to design one foot. The upper and the lower part have the same holes to fix the springs. I designed 3 Parts to print this foots without a lot of support structure.

I bought a set of springs and I used a scale to measure how much weigth(5kg) is necessary to press one spring a little bit together. Then I calculated: 2 people ( 2 x 80 kg ) / power of spring (5 kg) / count of foots(4) = 8 springs per foot ...

I printed the parts with 50% infill, 2 mm wall thickness and 4 mm of the ground layer to get very strong parts ...

Step 2: Assembling of Parts ...

First I sticked the upper and the middle part together and waited one day ...

Next I used a special tool and a clamb to press the springs into the lower part ...

At last I used the clamp to press the springs into the upper part ...

    Good idea. However, unless you seal the top portion where it fits on the leg and the segments where the parts fit together, water will penetrate into the design and rust the springs pretty quickly. You have to keep the water out for it to have any chance of lasting long. But interesting concept and can be made to stop water intrusion. Thumbs Up!
