Almond Crescents

Almond Crescents
This is one of my mumma's favorite recipes from an old cookbook, just with a few moderations. The almond flavor is apparent and distinct, not hidden in the background amongst the other ingredients. These crescents are soft throughout, even after they cool.

Here are the ingredients you'll need:

Dough:
-2 1/4 cups flour
-1/2 teaspoon salt
-1 cup butter (softened)
-Ice water

Filling:
-8 ounces of almond paste
-2 tablespoons of sugar
-1 egg
-1/3 cup finely ground almonds
-Powdered sugar

Start by mixing the flour and salt in a large bowl. Cut in the butter, and then add enough water until the dough is stiff, but a bit gooey on the outside.

Divide the dough into thirds, and flatten them into small discs. Put them in the refridgerator for two hours to chill.

For the filling, crumble the almond paste into a medium bowl. Add the sugar and egg, and mix until its smooth. Mix in the ground almonds.
