Introduction: General Tso Stir Fry

About: Love to cook different foods...I always want to taste something new!

I was bored one day and only had a few veggies and rice and i thought why not make a tasty Stir fry. The General Tso's sauce is homemade so i tried to get as close to the real deal as i could. May end tasting more like a chinese bbq sauce.

Stir-Fry Ingredients:
1/2 chopped white onion
1 red pepper; chopped
2 bunches of broccoli; chopped
4 carrots: chopped
1 bunch of califlower
1 cup of brown rice (white)
1/2 garlic salt
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon

general Tso's sauce;
1 tablespoon light brown sugar
2 tablespoons dark brown sugar
1 tablespoon honey
1 tablespoon chili paste
1 cup of water
1/3 cup less sodium soy sauce
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1/4 teaspoon onion powder
1 tablespoon corn starch

Step 1: Sauce Recipe

For the sauce; Mix 1 cup of water and 1 TB cornstarch in small pot. Turn flame on medium. Stir water until cornstarch is completely dissolved. Add both brown sugars, honey and chili paste to pot. Stir with whisk evenly distributing ingredients. Add Soy sauce and remaining spices. Stir. Allow mixture to begin slight boil at which point it should begin to caramelize into a syrup-like sauce. About 3 minutes. You may need to add more corn starch or water for desirable thickness.

Step 2: Stir-Fry Recipe

Chop Veggies so that some are thicker than others. Prepare rice of choice according to directions.
While rice is cooking. Over Medium high flame, heat a large Wok with canola oil or a high heat oil. Do not allow oil to smoke.
Add onion first and cook for 2 minutes.
Add mixed veggies toss in oil allowing to coat veggies evenly. Cover for 2 minutes. Begin to toss veggies again being sure that none stick to pan. After 4 to 5 minutes add garlic seasoning, salt and pepper. Turn off Veggies and set aside.

Take cooked rice, drain and toss with veggies in Wok. Pour General Tso's sauce over rice and veggies and mix. Serve Immediately.
There you have your General Tso's Stir-Fry.
