This a Geodesic Dome model i made from watching this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vv01yWHo_1o
you can also find a text version at http://www.Hilaroad.com ,which is but one of the many great science projects there.
the dome is only made out of normal bond paper and PVA glue,but is pretty robust due to its shape.i suppose modified domes like this made out of clear acrylic or PVC would make good green houses or large tripod mounted telescope covers.you do need a good geometry set and patience if you draw all the triangles manually (actually, unlike me sane people would probably print them out).
