If you were like me, you were probably very disappointed that they removed 3D Pinball from Vista. Well this is the way to grab the program from Windows XP, Windows 2000 Professional, Windows ME, or Windows NT and to put it onto Vista. This also works on Windows 7.

It was also included in the Microsoft Plus! package for Windows 95. For instructions on how to install it onto Windows 98 go to http://support.microsoft.com/kb/188204 (Requires Windows 98 CD-ROM and Microsoft Plus! for Windows 95 CD-ROM).

Step 1: Find the Folder

For Windows XP and Windows 2000 Professional, the exact filepath is C:\Program Files\Windows NT\Pinball. This is probably the same for Windows NT (4.0) as well. The filepath may or may not be different for Windows 9x operating systems (Includes Windows ME). I do not know as I have never done this on those particular versions for this purpose. Anyway, there are several other ways to find the folder. Use search to find "pinball", the FOLDER will turn up as one of the results. You can also go to the games folder in the "all programs" tab of the start menu and find the pinball icon. Right-click it and go into the shortcut's properties. Click "find target" in the "shortcut" tab and it will take you to the application (.exe) INSIDE the folder.

For Windows 95 & 98, it may not be possible as it is installed as an extra package. If anyone has any info on that, please share it with me.
Here's what I did. I copied it onto my flash drive and now I can play it wherever!
i have windows vista he sp2 and i went to games and there is no 3d pinball... what i don't understand in this instructable is you talk about all the other windows except for vista so i just don't see why you posted this for vista
The point of this Instructible is to get the game onto Windows Vista or 7 since it is not on there to begin with. I describe the process of copying it from an older version("all other windows"). You can't find it because it's not on there.
Are you able to download a zip of this game?

as i dont know where i can find a Xp pc
there is one at my local library but i cant access the pin ball folder is says 'access denied' when i try to open the c drive

I'v got cheat codes for this game.
This works with windows 7 too!
sweet. i'm just about to get a new laptop with vista ultimate and windows 7 upgrade. i ordered it and i should have it in 2 weeks. now i can put classic windows games on it. thanks
Can you do this with any computor program?
No. Most programs must be installed and registered on Windows. But, it can work on some programs. Try it.
