I teach Technology to Middle School Students. You can't believe how a many young people are unaware of the valuable equipment such as powered speakers that can be found just sitting around with old PC's. I have used the inexpensive mp3 player/powered PC speaker combo for Halloween Yard Haunts, and to play music for the students during lunch.

Remember friends, just because you already know how to do something, doesn't mean EVERYBODY knows how to do something.

Thanks for sharing and good luck in the future.

This might come as a surprise to you, but just about everyone on the planet already knows about this. And for a "real" party, computer speakers just ain't gonna cut it, power-wise. Trust me, I tried... Still, as glaringly obvious instructables go, this ain't no bad'un.

Hey dude I like the way you write. LOL I mean the irony in your first sentence, plus the "ain't gonna", the "power-wise" thing and the "ain't no bad'un". We're r u from? Would you share some more contractions and colloquial words? (English is not my native language, so I want to learn). Bye!

Dear Sir, Your note trickled through my email program as a refreshing shower on a hot, dry summer's day and your remarks -- let's assume for the moment they are compliments -- on my mastery of the Americo-English slang were duly noted. For your information and education, Sir, please be informed that my current country of residence, and indeed of birth, is Belgium, and more specifically the northern, Flemish (or: Dutch) speaking part of aforementioned -- now slowly disintegrating -- country. It is, I daresay, rather common knowledge that we Flemings are the most intelligent, educated, polyglot, erudite and indeed modest people on Earth, so it would come as no surprise that we possess an above average mastery of even the more basal forms of communication, i.e.: "Redneckkish".

There is no way you can stuff up your speakers or your mp3 player just by not plugging them in all the way. The only damage that could happen is if you have a VERY good, VERY expensive, VERY loud (definitely not very portable) speaker system turned up all the way, then they might get damaged (but it is very unlikely and your mp3 player wont get damaged)

Now if noone had thought of this you'd be a genius but It's been done, with bigger badder speakers too, I personally have several additions for you... - On the train, to continue the party, there are plug sockets for cleaners - Using batteries to power them - Modding a car inverter for this... - buying a stereo...

Wow, simply wow! Among the various YAUMSISSO (Yet Another USB Memory Stick Inside Some Stupid Object) which ARE NOT WORTH being an Instructable, this one is, hmmm... WOW will be my last word. Please, please! Write valuable articles...

Don't mess with YAUMSISSO's not all bad... however I agree with the rest of what you said, he gave me a great Idea in the process of writing something so useless though...
