*disclaimer I am not held responsible for any string related injury inflicted on you or others*

Step 1: Teh Stuff

Picture of Teh Stuff

You need

#1 Paintball marker

#2 Cotton string

#3 Electrical tape

#4 Scissors

#5 Barrel cleaner

#6 Spray paint

*not pictured* *optional* #7 Masking/Painters tape

Step 2: Cleaning the Barrel

Picture of Cleaning the Barrel

First, unscrew the barrel (lefty loosey, righty tighty)
Next, run hot water through the barrel
Third, wipe it down wit a paper towel
Fourth, use the barrel cleaner to well... clean the barrel
Finally, press the next step button at the bottom of the screen

Step 3: Taping Up the Barrel

Picture of Taping Up the Barrel

Take the electrical tape and start wrapping the barrel starting at the tip. When completed, put it back on the marker and see if it fits. If not, then trim it, it must fit perfectly.

Step 4: *OPTIONAL* Taping the Marker

Picture of *OPTIONAL* Taping the Marker

This step is completely optional, do it for extra safety. Take your packing tape, and wrap up the important/open areas of the marker. Parts like the barrel, cocking mechanism, paintball feeding tube, trigger, CO2 tube, and CO2 nozzle.

Step 5: Paintin Dat Sucker

Picture of Paintin Dat Sucker

Remove the barrel and get your black, gray, and green spray paint. Paint it black if its colored, if its black than there is no reason. Next, paint it spotted or striped. Let it dry, screw on the barrel, and marvel in its beautiful presence.

Step 6: Stringin It

Picture of Stringin It

Cut approx. 20 pieces of string 20" long. Tie in a simple knot and unravel. In an hour you get the last picture.

Step 7: Painting

Picture of Painting

Remove the barrel and put it on the barrel cleaner. Spray the whole thing green, the tips black, and frost the center gray. Let it dry and re-attach. 'tear-drop' "its beautiful"

BMXsquad88 (author)GDADZGSONS2015-01-08

35Timmy (author)2012-04-14

beastmaster0905 (author)2012-02-16

deer-slayer51 (author)2008-08-20

yea and he looks like he regret doin that it looks dum 2 me

SychoKiller951 (author)2012-01-02

I have a US Army Project Salvo and I used an old camouflage shirt and cut it into strips and tied it into knots all around my gun. Got to say it looks great I will camouflage my mask when it gets in but until then I will pwn with my ghillie marker.

ilpug (author)2011-07-24

well, pretty good. my friend has that exact same gun. its pretty good. if i where you i would ghillie the hopper more than the gun, becasue hte hopper sticks out in the way of everything.

junits15 (author)2011-05-21

wouldn't it be easier to take the gun apart, paint it and then put it back together? You would probably get cleaner lines. Looks good though; might try this :)

thatoneguy112233 (author)2010-10-05

if you want a much better way, just get green and brown (whichever colors you want really) then get a roll of tool (REALLY thin fabric and just wrap the tool around, then get a needle and thread the yarn through, its also removable so yeah

Fashim (author)2010-08-23

Most Ghillie suits are made of Jute (Hessian) so I think that would be much better.

Here is my ghillied-up tippmann 98 marker. It was camo to start with so only the string needed painting. I covered the barrel and the hopper and the shiny air line with over 400 ft. of string in total. The total time for this project was two hours.

MrAngryPants (author)L.E.D. hero2010-01-18

Very nice! I love to see people inspired by my work!

L.E.D. hero (author)MrAngryPants2010-01-23

Yeah, thanks for the great idea! I have also followed your ghillie mask instructable and I feel like a real sniper. Great work, 5/5

airsoft pro (author)2009-10-18

I have the same gun vl triton 2

mattameo213 (author)2009-09-15

Ummm. I wouldn't suggest taking a sparkly blue paintball gun to a woodsball match. ever. Its a nice instructible but I have a few complaints (dontcha love 'em?): -Getting green yarn isn't much harder than getting white yarn and saves the spraypaint factor. -For people with ported barrels: the porting in a barrel is the little holes that allow the gasses to disperse with less noise, by rapping it in tape you are making your paintball gun very loud and obvious (could be good, or bad) -Try to only paint the outer sides of the gun. (take the marker apart and just paint the two shell pieces without the bolts and stuff) other than that, good job!

In a recent tournament, I was at my sniping point, all ghillied up, some dude comes walking by, STEPS RIGHT FRICKING ON ME, looks down, goes "ugh, #$%&*@ mud....."

xACIDITYx (author)DrWeird1172009-03-25

xD lol

DrWeird117 (author)xACIDITYx2009-03-29

That hurt, I actually thought I broke a rib. XD

mattameo213 (author)DrWeird1172009-09-15

It happens, of course, I'm so large people don't mistake me for mud...

You should of shot him.....

Heck no!

I waited till he was at least 150 feet away...

Oh, So he didn't know you were not mud....

No. I swear. Hand to your favorite deity, he didn't know.

Oh, So you didn't get annoyed that he called you mud?

Of course. >: ( That's why I hit him. Boy, was he pissed.

Good onya, i knew you wouldn't let him get away with it...... :-)

Of course not.

hahahaha lol

Wow...I know.

cc0war0 (author)2009-05-21

you are the ghost now,haha...

tippmannphreak (author)2009-01-19

I dont ususally ghillie up my marker because when the fighting gets intense sometimes your ghillie gets snagged. It happens alot with my pants and shirt, but when my gun snags I cant fire in the direction I want to, So thats why I dont use netting on mine. P.S I painted mine too. I used brown and green spraypaint from walmart.

waverider894 (author)2008-11-30

shouldn't you take out the bolt first?

splat32 (author)2008-10-12

a better way to do this, not implying that yours wasnt good (which it was prolly one of the best ive seen thumbs up) is to tie the string or hemp (burlap is the best, you can get it from rice bags, i did it with the rice bag ones lol), anyways, tie the strimg, hemp, burlap, w.e, to a shoelace and then coil wrap it around the barrel, and dying the ghillie is better than spray paint in my opinion cause the s/p is good for blending color, not as a base... the shoelace is what snipers sometimes use, or put a net over you paintball gun (avoid key locations that move) and the stuff the ghillie and leaves and grass and such into it camo turns out better

MrAngryPants (author)splat322008-10-14

I have redone my gun and mask and have actually made a full suit, but this was only for quick fix for a blue marker which sticks out like a sore-thumb in a heavily wooded area. I know it was rather sloppy, but it was what i had lying around and the game was tomorrow. :D

Molybdenum (author)2008-07-30

You should probably guille your hopper too, as that and you head will usually be what is sticking out.

Aburame Shino (author)2008-07-08

We have the EXACT SAME marker. XD Sveet. Svery sveet insveed.

Doveman (author)Aburame Shino2008-07-27

Yes, I do too. Sweet!

Moose707 (author)2008-07-24

haha ive though about using string but this makes me want to do it even more i think i will now thanks for a good instrucable :P

Matt D655 (author)2008-07-17

that was actually cool how good is the silencer?

i make shooting things (author)2008-07-16

Great paint job. I wouldnt do this to any higher end markers. but defiantly paint your loader. (ps get a better loader)

Pumpkin$ (author)2008-07-15

dude why would you ghillie? it really does'nt change anything. a cammo job might work better

R4Man18 (author)2008-07-10

It is a low end marker compared to others on the market but is great for basic games and you wont need to worry about it. Great instructable but its safer to take apart the marker, stuff it with a rag or a bandana before taping just incase the tape doesnt hold.

uniboob tom (author)2008-07-01

i love these things. Ive used them countless times and they always seem to work even when people are looking for them they still dont see it
