Introduction: "Ghillied Up" How to Make a Ghillie Paintball Gun

About: Creative 125 year old who spends his extra time making things. Sucks how I don't document everything I build.

A cheap and simple (and time-consuming) Ghillie Suit for your Paint-ball marker.

*disclaimer I am not held responsible for any string related injury inflicted on you or others*

Step 1: Teh Stuff

You need

#1 Paintball marker

#2 Cotton string

#3 Electrical tape

#4 Scissors

#5 Barrel cleaner

#6 Spray paint

*not pictured* *optional* #7 Masking/Painters tape

Step 2: Cleaning the Barrel

First, unscrew the barrel (lefty loosey, righty tighty)
Next, run hot water through the barrel
Third, wipe it down wit a paper towel
Fourth, use the barrel cleaner to well... clean the barrel
Finally, press the next step button at the bottom of the screen

Step 3: Taping Up the Barrel

Take the electrical tape and start wrapping the barrel starting at the tip. When completed, put it back on the marker and see if it fits. If not, then trim it, it must fit perfectly.

Step 4: *OPTIONAL* Taping the Marker

This step is completely optional, do it for extra safety. Take your packing tape, and wrap up the important/open areas of the marker. Parts like the barrel, cocking mechanism, paintball feeding tube, trigger, CO2 tube, and CO2 nozzle.

Step 5: Paintin Dat Sucker

Remove the barrel and get your black, gray, and green spray paint. Paint it black if its colored, if its black than there is no reason. Next, paint it spotted or striped. Let it dry, screw on the barrel, and marvel in its beautiful presence.

Step 6: Stringin It

Cut approx. 20 pieces of string 20" long. Tie in a simple knot and unravel. In an hour you get the last picture.

Step 7: Painting

Remove the barrel and put it on the barrel cleaner. Spray the whole thing green, the tips black, and frost the center gray. Let it dry and re-attach. 'tear-drop' "its beautiful"

Step 8: TIME FOR BATTLE!!!

Put on you Ghillie Mask, equip your Ghillie Gun, and start tagging.

yea and he looks like he regret doin that it looks dum 2 me

I have a US Army Project Salvo and I used an old camouflage shirt and cut it into strips and tied it into knots all around my gun. Got to say it looks great I will camouflage my mask when it gets in but until then I will pwn with my ghillie marker.

well, pretty good. my friend has that exact same gun. its pretty good. if i where you i would ghillie the hopper more than the gun, becasue hte hopper sticks out in the way of everything.

wouldn't it be easier to take the gun apart, paint it and then put it back together? You would probably get cleaner lines. Looks good though; might try this :)

if you want a much better way, just get green and brown (whichever colors you want really) then get a roll of tool (REALLY thin fabric and just wrap the tool around, then get a needle and thread the yarn through, its also removable so yeah

Most Ghillie suits are made of Jute (Hessian) so I think that would be much better.

Here is my ghillied-up tippmann 98 marker. It was camo to start with so only the string needed painting. I covered the barrel and the hopper and the shiny air line with over 400 ft. of string in total. The total time for this project was two hours.
    Enjoy!

Very nice! I love to see people inspired by my work!

Yeah, thanks for the great idea! I have also followed your ghillie mask instructable and I feel like a real sniper. Great work, 5/5

I have the same gun vl triton 2

Ummm. I wouldn't suggest taking a sparkly blue paintball gun to a woodsball match. ever. Its a nice instructible but I have a few complaints (dontcha love 'em?): -Getting green yarn isn't much harder than getting white yarn and saves the spraypaint factor. -For people with ported barrels: the porting in a barrel is the little holes that allow the gasses to disperse with less noise, by rapping it in tape you are making your paintball gun very loud and obvious (could be good, or bad) -Try to only paint the outer sides of the gun. (take the marker apart and just paint the two shell pieces without the bolts and stuff) other than that, good job!

In a recent tournament, I was at my sniping point, all ghillied up, some dude comes walking by, STEPS RIGHT FRICKING ON ME, looks down, goes "ugh, #$%&*@ mud....."

HE THOUGHT HE STEPPED IN MUD!!!!!
