Gigantic Paper Flowers!

These gorgeous flowers are simple to make and super cheap.
They are perfect for decorations for whimsical parties!

These would be gorgeous for weddings, Baby showers, photo props,
tea parties, Birthdays, Valentine's day!
Who wouldn't be totally smitten by the giver of a dozen GIANT roses?

So easy to make and only uses 2 things!
Lightweight Paper and hot glue!  You pick the colors!

Step 1: 25 Pieces of Paper!

You will need about 14 sheets cut into large petals that fill roughly the whole paper.
You will need about 5-6 sheets cut into half size petals
You will need 1 sheet of paper for the center
And 4-5 sheets for leaves.

So, about 25 sheets of paper for 1 giant flower!
Let's get started!

I used whole sheets of paper and cut
them into rough petal shapes.  Could be more rounded petals
or more heart shaped, depending on how you want your finished product to look.

Step 2: Center Spiral!

I used 1 sheet cut into a 'sort of' circle...using as much of the paper as I could
Cut in a spiral, leaving the edges about 1 1/2 to 2 " wide.

Starting on the outside edge of the spiral,
I rolled it into a rosette...
Hot gluing periodically--to make a spiraled little bud.

Hot glued it into place on the circular center shaped that remained.

Step 3: Petal to the Metal!

Then with smaller sized petals cut from the paper...
I began gluing them around the bud.
Just run a bead of hot glue along the bottom edge of the petal.
Press it carefully to the bud.  Let it cool before doing the next petal.

Glue larger and larger petals on until it "looks" right.
The real professionals "eye-ball it"  :)

Step 4: Curling!

Then roll the petals toward the base...No glue here,
they will just make a natural curl and relax.

Add some giant leaves on the bottom edge...with hot glue of course.

Step 5: Ready to Decorate!

Gigantic, ginormous, wonderful paper flowers!
We used these as decoration at my daughter's Princess Party!
We made 10...a variety of colors and sizes.  All beautiful!

We hung them from the ceiling.  I took some twine and tied it around the base of the rose.
Then I tied a loop on the other end.  I used a corsage pin and put it through the loop,
pulled tight and stuck right into the ceiling.  Stayed perfectly and was easy to remove
with no noticeable hole!

You could also glue them to a dowel or PVC pipe and make a giant bouquet!

Thanks for viewing--let me know if you end up making some flowers!
And....Please vote for me!  :)  Thanks!
