We made a gigantic 3 meters Teddy bear, but following the same process you can make any gigantic stuffed toy you want.

Step 1: Finding the Patterns

First step was to find a nice stuffed toy that would worth the trouble. We had this funny Teddy bear that was about 30 cm. The next step was to decide the new dimensions. We thought of making it 10 times bigger. Once we've established the final dimensions we knew exactly what we have to do.

Every stuffed toy has some patterns that give its shape. All we had to do for this next step was to find the stitches and cut them off using a scissor. Our Teddy bear was symmetrical so we only had to cut half of it (if your toy isn't symmetrical you should cut all the stitches). We also had to make sure not to cut anything else but the stitches. After we cut them off we had like 13 elements. These elements were actually the patterns of the stuffed toy.

Step 2: Scan the Patterns and Trace the Outline

The next step was to scan all the elements and trace the outline of every one of them in Corel or Photoshop or any program you like. You can even use Paint. This is what you should end up with.

Step 3: Enlarge the Patterns

Now remember we said we would make the Teddy bear 10 times bigger. Well, all we had to do was enlarge every pattern 10 times. Don't let the fact that you don't have a large printer be a problem. We didn't have a large printer at that time either. It was easy and cheap to print the patterns on A4 papers and tape them together afterwards in order to get our patterns ready.

Step 4: Cutting and Sewing the Fluffy Material

At this point we had to choose a fluffy material, draw the patterns on it, and of course, cut it. At this point you should keep in mind which side of the pattern to use. You can mark them on each side with L and R for left and right, knowing that you'll be using the same patterns for both sides of the toy. After we had the small pieces we started sewing them on the back into one pice. It is very important to keep in mind which piece goes where.

Step 5: Filling the Bear and Having Fun

It came up really nice and we stopped sewing when we only had a small gap left, enough to fill the Teddy bear. We actually had two choices for filling: 1. polystyrene beads; 2. polyester wadding. We choosed the polystyrene beads but wadding is also a good choice if you can afford it. After filling the Teddy bear we cleaned it up and made alot of nice pictures with it
