It all started with the Tatted Mask ( https://www.instructables.com/id/Tatted_Mask_1/ )
Which is, fabulous. However, I have two issues with it;
a) it involves tatting, which is a lovely, and mythical new hobby, that I haven't the wherewithal to learn.
b) it doesn't look nearly as sexy or mysterious with glasses + mask.
c) I have a short amount of time but a whole lot of glitter to make the love happen.

And since hot glue isn't a hobby, I decided to try to see what was possible with it.

Step 1: Find a Pair of Glasses!

Dig through your old spectacle collection, and find one that isn't too far off from your current prescription, or if you aren't bespectacled (or if you have contacts), you can thrift any old pair of classes, or cheapo sunglasses, reading glasses , or old 3D movie glasses.

You likely will not return these frames to their original condition... and the wider the frame, the better...(ie, wire frames are more may be a bit harder to work with than plastic frames)

Step 2: Gather Materials!

You will need some stuff to make this thing:

I used:
Aluminum Foil
Plastic Wrap (cheap kind)
Superfine glitter (rubber/stamp/scrapbook kind)
or
Embossing powder (for a flat/antique finish)
hot glue gun
hot glue sticks (you'll need more than you think + some to get used to using glue as a design tool from a kludgy delivery tool)
Marker/pen/paper
Good flat, heat resistant surface
Some cleaning supplies to chase down all the glitter
Scissors

Step 3: Create Environment Suitable for Glitter Proliferation

Lay down paper/foil.
Use extra newspaper, taped down underneath, if you are a klutz, or if kids are involved.

Plug in and turn on glue-gun.

Use this pre-glitter moment to think about what you are going to do. Think loop patterns, paisleys, circles, lashes, organic shapes that are keen to be done in hotglue. Henna tattoo resources might be worth looking up is you are at a loss.

When you have an idea in your head, take your pot of glitter, and dump it out artfully on the foil and make an even plateau of sparkles slightly larger than what you expect your design to be.

Step 4: Create a Base

After figuring out how to control the glue in an aesthetically pleasing manner -- begin!

Holding the glasses, right side up, put a bead of hot glue around the entire frame of the glasses. Unlike the pic, you will want to hold the glasses by the temple pieces, to keep your fingers out of the way.

When you've completed the rim, turn the glasses upside down (temples up) into the pile of glitter. leave it be until mostly cool and go to the next step.

You will also want to work *quickly*. -- if you cannot work quickly, do one eye at a time, and push into the glitter, and pull it back while its still on the warm side, to help the next bead of glue adhere more strongly to the already glittered bead.

Step 5: Channel Your Sparkle Fingers.

Once your turned the glasses upside down, avoid bumping, touching, or picking them up until the glue has cooled.

Begin your design by tracing the sides of the frame, this gives the glue more to hold on to, and provides a thicker, more dramatic base for your creation.

Avoid getting glue neat the hinges... its just a mess.

Then starting with your central design element (always attach to the frame and draw away from the frame and back to it)

Then like doodling with glue (glueddling?) continue working your lacy shapes. Ignore the strands of glue left behind... those are easy to clean up later, and working quicker will be a better use of your time.

Step 6: Check It Out!

When you think its all set, pick up the glasses, tap them off, and see how they look!

If you find any holes, you can use the glue gun tip, to soften the piece, and reposition or fill, as the video will show you.

In the end I did choose to use a dusting of hairspray to hold the fine glitter in place on the lenses. This will clean up easily with a swab of alcohol, should I choose a new look.

If you don't like a piece, or if you wish to get rid of or reshape existing points, you can (once cool) use a scissors to trim off any blobs, or less exciting bits, or to redo an entire section.

REMEMBER: DO NOT TOUCH HOT HOT GLUE -- IT BURNS LIKE NAPALM -- if you are klutzy, you can keep a bowl of ice water around, and dip in your sticky, burning body part...*ahem*

So, um, Sparkle ON!

Step 7: Clean Up! and Set!

This is where foil, or a good heavy cardstock is helpful. When you are finished, you can crease it, and then use it as a funnel to get your pile of glitter back int the tiny pot. You will want to put a piece of plastic, or another piece of foil down to catch any overspray.

Then if you choose not to "fix" your glitter with hairspray, you can wrap them up in plastic wrap (which is a good idea anyway) until you are ready to wear them!
