Introduction: Golf Divot Repair Tool (Lasercut)

This is a Golf Divot Repair Tool that is portable and easy to use. Its size provides for comfortable transport and fits perfectly in your pocket during a round of golf. I made this using a CO2 laser in my school to cut the wood, so you'll need to make sure you have access to one before you start.

Supplies Needed:

  • 0.115 inch-think wood,
  • Wood glue,
  • Sand paper,
  • Two 1/8th inch magnets.

Step 1: Design Your Divot Repair Tool + DXF Files

The design for the Divot Repair Tool is simple. It is 0.8283 inches tall. The sides have a fillet of .25 inches. There is a hole with a diameter of 1/8 of an inch for the magnet. The rest of the dimension are shown in the photo above.

Step 2: Cutting

To cut out my Golf Divot Repair Tool, I used a CO2 Laser Cutter.

Step 3: Editing/ Finalizing Design

This may be the most important step in the process. In order to get the desired shape and size of your golf divot repair, configure the tool to a favorable form and appearance.

Step 4: Glue Pieces Together + Sanding and Polishing

Once your pieces are cut out, they need to be glued together. Get some wood glue and spread it on your pieces using a paperclip or a toothpick. Firmly press all the layers together and clamp the layers down once you are finished. After cutting the pieces there may be some smoke marks left. In order to create a smooth finish, I used sandpaper to smooth the wood and remove burn marks. A clear coat of finish will also help with durability. After an hour, remove the clamps and enjoy your new golf divot repair tool.
