Introduction: Gorey Eyeballs

About: Always looking for interesting "projects" and hacks. I create Halloween props for our home haunt and love finding new ways to create cool props.

I picked up these superball eyeballs at the dollar store. I had seen some instructions in the past on creating creepy eyeballs for Halloween so I thought I would try doing some myself.

Step 1: Supplies

Dollar Store superball eyeballs (or other plastic eyeballs)
Glue Gun
Glue Sticks
Red Spray Paint
Red Acrylic Paint
Black Acrylic Paint

Step 2: Build Up the Gore

Start by dripping the hot glue over the "bottom" of your eyeball. Do this in layers, letting each layer cool before adding another. This builds up the flesh and gore.

Once you have a couple of base layers, turn the eyeball over to allow it to start dripping or extending the "gore". This gives the eyeball the illusion that it has been ripped out of the socket with the muscles attached.

Step 3: Paint Your Eyeballs

Once you have your eyeball built up with enough flesh and gore, you can begin painting. I started with a light coating of spray paint. I like the splatter effect on the eyeball. Spray the flesh being careful not to get too much on the eyeball.

After the spray paint has dried, paint the fleshy part with red acrylic paint and let it dry. Then I watered down some black acrylic paint and brushed it over the red. If it appears too heavy, use a dry brush to remove the excess.

Once your eyeballs are dry, you can coat them with polyurethane to give them a gloss. I chose not to for these eyeballs.

Now your eyeballs are ready to use in your Halloween display! I used one in a squirrel prop. The squirrel is eating it!
