This is a really cool DIY...........I have a science project on levers. Is this a good example of a first class compound lever?!

You may consider Handle and Claws both as first Class Levers.

Very good instructable. The pictures are excellent. This is a good way to see how the mechanism of the grabber works. It is then a matter of creating the same using wood or metal or plastic/resin. This is a good excuse to try out a 3-D printer.

I just wanted to share the concept, it may inspire someone to enhance it.

One of those tools you never knew you needed untill you get one, and then don't know how you managed without (I admit to being lazy enough that the ones i have are bought (and also a bit smaller, for picking up tiny bits/screws where you cant reach) - they come quite cheap) This one you build could also make for a nice "robot hand" for a halloween-type costume. very clean build and a good way to reuse/recycle something that would otherwise end up on a trashheap somewhere.

We realize the value of any thing in hand when we try to imitate it.
