A graveyard cross for halloween decoration!
1. Use about 60 cm of square wood and cut 20 cm off
2. Cut out a notch in both and glue together
3. Cut the bottom of the longest stick on an angle
4. Glue and screw it to a plate
5. Paint in grey or black
6. Glue dry grass on the bottom plate

I made something similar inspired by your instructable, Instead of adding a base, i just pointed the bottom into a stake to make it fit in the ground.
