Introduction: British Fruit Cake (Great Grannies)

About: Hi my names Oregood i'm 19 i live in England and i have been a big fan of instructables for a few years now, but now i have made up my mind to try and post new projects when ever i try something new.

This is my great grannies recipe for a tasty Fruit Cake.

Step 1: Ingredients and Utensils

Ingredients
  • 8oz (230 grams) plain flour
  •  7oz (200 grams) soft brown sugar
  •  3 eggs
  •  8oz (230 grams) seedless raisins or (mixed fruit)
  •  1 level teaspoon backing powder
  •  6oz (170 grams) soft margarine
  •  1 table spoon milk
Utensils
  • 8in cake tin
  • Mixing bowl
  • Sieve
  • Set of scales
  • Backing paper (lining paper)

Step 2: Preparing the Cake Tin

To prepare the cake tin rub some butter around the tin and line with the backing paper (lining paper)
I find it helps to use two pieces of paper one for the bottom and one for the sides

Step 3: Cake Instructions

Now for the cake mix
  1. Sift the flour and backing powder in a large mixing bowl
  2. then mix in the fruit
  3. In a different bowl cream the margarine with sugar
  4. Add eggs one at a time and mix
  5. Then poor the milk in 
  6. Then gradually add to the flour mixture
  7. Mix it all together
  8. Then poor it in to your Prepared cake tin
  9. Bake in centre of oven at 325f or gas mark 2 for 3hr
