After setting off the smoke alarm last night  and learning the Some-things-should-never-be-grilled-indoors Lesson, I needed a quick way to put a smile back on my husband's face that didn't involve grilling, sex or clean laundry.

That left Ice Cream... naturally! He loved it so much the first go-round, I decided to step it up a notch.

This time I microwaved the stuffed Banana instead of grilling it. (1 minute on high)  It turned out perfect!  I also added fresh Strawberries, Chocolate sauce, Caramel-Almond sauce and Whipped cream to the regular lineup below.

Forgiveness is MINE... and I got a big hug and kiss, too!  I SO love a happy ending!

So simple with just a few minutes of preparation.  No fuss, no muss, and just plain yummylicious!

You can prepare this dessert for grilling a few hours ahead of time if desired.

They say "There's a first time for everything."  If you've never tried a Grilled Banana Split before, this may be your first, but it won't be your last.

That's a promise!

Step 1: What You'll Need:

For each Serving:

1 Banana

Filling:
3-4 Tablespoons Mini chocolate chips
2-3  Tablespoons Peanut Butter
10-12 Mini marshmallows

Vanilla Ice Cream

Topping:
Mini Chocolate chips
Strawberry Preserves
Crushed Pineapple
Honey

Optional:
Chopped nuts
Whipped Cream
Anything you like on an Ice Cream Sundae you'll LOVE on this Grilled Banana Split!

1- 12" x 18" sheet Heavy-Duty Aluminum Foil

Step 2: Make the Foil Boat:

Fold the 12" x 18" foil in half so it measures 12" x 9"

Beginning at one corner of the folded bottom, roll the foil up. Repeat with the opposite corner. Seal firmly with your fingertips

The aluminum boat is ready for the stuffed Banana

Step 3: Stuff the Banana and Grill It:

Using a small serrated knife, cut a slit inside the curve of the banana as pictured. Use care to not to cut all the way through.

Spread a layer of mini chocolate chips inside the banana.

Spread 2-3 Tablespoons of peanut butter on top of the mini chips, completely sealing them in so none of the banana is exposed.

Lightly press the mini marshmallows onto the peanut butter.*

Place the stuffed banana (with the stuffed side upright)  in the foil boat and fold the top of the foil over lightly. It doesn't need to be sealed.  You'll want to be able to peek at the filling while it's grilling to determine when it's perfectly heated through.

Grill over med-low heat for approx. 10-15 minutes.  After 10 minutes, take a peek inside. The peanut butter will get shiney as it heats up. The marshmallow will only soften. It will not melt. Go ahead and fold the sides of the foil boat down and test the peanut butter with a toothpick.

When it's ready, remove from the grill.

*If you're making these ahead, this is the time to wrap them gently but securely in saran wrap and put them in a cool place. Refrigeration isn't needed as long as they are sealed properly and you only leave them for a couple of hours.

Step 4: Serve and Enjoy!

Fold the foil down and take warm stuffed Banana out. If it's too hot to the touch, use a spatula... and be sure to leave the skin on.

Put it in a bowl or in a Banana Split boat as pictured.

Top the stuffed banana  with a scoop of Ice cream. (I used my melon scoop and added 3 small scoops.)

I topped my Grilled Banana Split with crushed pineapple, strawberry preserves, mini chocolate chips and drizzled honey over the top.

Garnish to your heart and taste buds' content.

Just one tender spoonful of this warm, delicious dessert... you'll know you've entered Banana Split Heaven!
