Lay enough ham slices to cover the cheese.
Spread enough cream cheese to cover the other slice of bread (in the picture the slice on the left).
Put the cream cheese covered slice of bread on the ham, cream cheese side down. Spread a small amount of butter on the outside of the sandwiches.
