Guitar Hero(1-4)Rock band broken whammy bar how to fix

This instructable will show you how to fix a whammy bar that isn't springing back.

The same method will work with guitar hero 1 ,2 ,3 ,4's guitars (it will possibly work for Rock Band's guitar)

you will need:
1. small philips screwdriver
2. small 6 wing screwdriver (I'm not exactly sure what they're called)
3. a spring made of 1 millimeter wire that is at least as tall as the guitar if it's to tall then you can cut it to the size of the guitar and a 1/2 of an inch in diameter.
4.a hot glue gun
5. a broken whammy bar :)

why the whammy bar isn't springing back.
Ether the tiny piece of plastic is broken off of the whammy pars rotating axes ,the anchor could have broken off ,or the spring its self broke. Makes the Guitar sound really cruddy doesn't it?

Step 1: What you need

Another super simple fix is to get a rubber band and but around the whammy bar and the strap nut on the end. It works amazingly and you don't have to take apart your guitar =D

Genius! now why didn't i think of that......? i ve already tried taking apart my GH2 'troller. I HAD to take out the little broken tab; it kept rattling every time i tilted! my problem was that i couldn't figure out a good replacement tab that would hold up to me slamming on it. W/ a rubber band, i can just keep popping 'em on. YAY!

Plus you can adjust the amount of rubberbands to make it feel more realistic, or easier, depending on your preference.

I hate that the Whammy bar will slowly slide down, and even when you hold it up it makes the song sound weird.

it is working...the new one is, but the old one isnt, and i think the old one broke because this watery stuff got in it when i was cleaning it

MY DRUMS BROKE ON THE SECOND DAY!!!!! if you know any thing on how they work fix them your self there is an insructable for that. How I broke it. I was sitting down on the couch while the whammy bar got braced against my leg and my stomach it got squished a little and I heard a pop and it flopped down. the spring actually broke I don't know why.

We ended up just using an elastic band hooked over the strap peg and the whammy bar, but yours definitely looks better.
