I have recently used veneer in order to make rings.I wondered if I could make other things with it and I found out that I can. Here is my guide for you of how to make a veneer guitar shaped key holder.
Step 1: Materials
For this project we will need:
- A saw or a knife.
- Sand paper and files.
- Super glue.
- Pyrography tool.
- A pencil.
Step 2: Gluing
Start by cutting a few veneer strips at the size you want your guitar to be. Glue the strips on each other and hold until it dries (I glued four strips together).
Step 3: Drawing
Choose the guitar style and draw the out lines of it on the top veneer strip
Step 4: Sawing
Saw carefully around the shape you draw, be careful not to rip the layers.
Step 5: Sanding and Sizing
First use the file to smoother the edges and to shape the guitar better. Then use sand paper to smother everything even more.
Step 6: Pyrographing
After you are satisfied with the final shape, draw the details of the guitar and decide the place for the key ring hole.
Drill the hole and move over the details with a pyrography tool or a welder. What i also did was covering the guitar with foil leaving the bridge exposed, then, carefully making it darker using a lighter.
Step 7: Finishing
Use varnish to cover the guitar and to protect the wood. When it dries, connect the key ring and enjoy your new key chain.
