This is a Semi-Automatic Rubber Band Gun (by which I mean it SHOOTS rubber bands, since I think the ones that shoot rods hurt too much). It's designed to be as RUGGED as possible, because I was tired of stopping our RBG wars every 2 minutes because somebody's gun broke.

The spacing of the 2 gears that make up the repeater mechanism at the heart of this gun was adapted from MrRadicalEd's RBG Repeater, because it's so simple and works better than all the more complicated ones I've made or tried.

Picture 1: Complete "Gunzo The Great"
Pictures 2&3: Shows my adaptation of MrRadicalEd's 2 gears. (just a model demonstrating the size and relative positioning of the gears)

Thanks to MASTERMIND for the piece count:
6 white connectors (8-way)
38 yellow connectors (5-way)
6 green connectors (4-way)
20 red connectors (3-way)
4 light gray connectors (2-way)
2 dark gray connectors (1-way)
2 blue tabless (or tan tabbed) clip connectors

97 green rods
34 white rods
9 blue rods

7 blue spacers

This is totally my choice of weaponry in a RB war. Compact, sleek, and has a ncie look. The trigger is a light pull, and has modding capabilities. Thanks for building such a great gun! (No wonder it's called "Gunzo the Great" !) :)

I LOVE this gun. It's a big gun, which is sweet and all, but for people with only a few pieces, (like me),well, it uses a lot of pieces. It is WELL worth it, though. =D 5*, you deserve it.

This is the first Repeating rubberbandgun
revtiedye (author) says: Sep 2, 2009. 2:18 PM
Yep, that's the same one I mentioned in the description. Thanks to Mr. Radical Ed's design. I think I'm going to send him another thank you note.
brammeke11 says: Sep 3, 2009. 8:45 AM
Ow, sorry. didn't read that the first time
eskimoboy says: Aug 29, 2009. 11:31 PM
Hey, this is really great design. You managed to make the gun strong without requiring us to clip 7 connectors onto a rod all at the same time in an internal space while doing a dance and baking a pie.
revtiedye (author) says: Sep 2, 2009. 2:15 PM
Yeah, thanks. I'm not a big pie fan, and I'm a terrible dancer, so I never got into that style of Knex Design.

best rbg gun ever total 5 star :D
revtiedye (author) says: Jun 17, 2009. 11:34 AM
Thanks for that encouragement! I know the gun can work well, although it apparently doesn't work for everybody. I thought maybe my instructions weren't clear enough. I'm glad you were able to use them for a successful build.

I combined this gun with knexguntutorials's shotgun. The result? Good.+

This semi auto system is useful for me!
revtiedye (author) says: Feb 4, 2009. 9:43 AM
Cool. I got the basic geometry, as I said, from Mr. Radical Ed. I built about 10 different variations of the semi-auto system, and this was the second best one. The one that functioned the absolute best has three yellow rods through the semi-auto assembly, which I found "just too wide" for the pistol, but I highly recommend it for a rifle. I made this into an awesome sniper, but I just got tired of writing instructions, and never did that one. I'll post pictures in the final step, but minimal instructions. Sorry.
Miles Tails Prower says: Feb 12, 2009. 10:30 AM
You know what I am gonna do to this gun??? I'll make it shoot connectors, and it will have an removable clip.

I FINISHED IT!!! IT IS SO AWESOME!!! SO VERY AWESOME!!!! MUST-BUILD FOR EVERYONE!!!
rexdino5 says: Aug 6, 2008. 8:23 AM
Hey I can't even put in 5 rubber bands with out jamming it You used so many pieces and i almost ran out. Try reducing what u don't need
revtiedye (author) says: Feb 4, 2009. 5:23 PM
Sorry Rex Dino, I sometimes forget that I've got a LOT of Knex. One of the benefits of having a job, and an income. :) I was building it to be strong, not piece-efficient. But the piece count is on there. As for the jamming, I've built at least 6 of these, and I've never had a problem that I would call "Jamming", but others have. Tell me exactly what you mean by jam: A. The rubber bands stick to the wheel in the gun when fired B. The rubber bands shoot really crooked C. When I pull the trigger, multiple Rubber Bands fly off at once. D. When I pull the trigger, Rubber Bands AND knex pieces fly off. E. When I pull the trigger, the wheel won't advance, and nothing happens. Finally, describe your Rubber Bands: A. as thick as a spaghetti noodle with loop the size of a large egg. B. as thick as a spaghetti noodle with loop the size of a baseball C. thickness of a fettucini (flat) noodle, with loop the size of a baseball D. Bigger than any of these E. Smaller than any of these.

revtiedye (author) says: Aug 21, 2008. 4:52 PM
Sorry Rex, I overbuilt this gun on purpose because I wanted it to be Rugged, and not come apart when I put lots of bands on it. But you're right, this gun uses WAY TOO MANY little green rods. But thanks to Mastermind, we now have all the parts counted. How many greenies were you able to eliminate?
Oblivitus says: Aug 6, 2008. 4:34 PM
Lol.
dynno97 says: Feb 1, 2009. 8:57 AM
Im gonna use your mech to make rifle
Knetix says: Dec 6, 2008. 7:56 AM
would u care if i posted a gun that used the same mechanism-only for a rod shooting gun?
Wafflicious says: Dec 30, 2008. 7:09 AM
this isnt his mech... "The spacing of the 2 gears that make up the repeater mechanism at the heart of this gun was adapted from MrRadicalEd's RBG Repeater, because it's so simple and works better than all the more complicated ones I've made or tried."
15zhangfra says: Nov 24, 2008. 9:55 AM
dang it,i don't have blue spacers, nor all the piecs called for, though still cool
josefu0 says: Aug 25, 2008. 12:52 AM
hey mines is with less piece and fires longer.
Oompa-Loompa says: Jul 21, 2008. 3:21 PM
Why do all knex rbg's jam a considerable amount?
15zhangfra says: Aug 17, 2008. 3:07 PM
u should try lego rubber band guns, they hardly jam
