I took a couple of electronics courses in my Freshman year in college. My instructor taught us how to make cool stuff like homemade speakers, homemade battery holders, homemade telegraphs, 9-Volt battery chargers, and a WWII Fox Hole Radio. Of course we worked on serious stuff with diodes, bipolar transistors, FETs, thermistors, and how to read electronic schematics.
