The wind turbines are complete with their generators, which in turn provide the power for the snow machines via heavy duty electrical cables. The turbines are on aircushion barges so they can be moved around to wherever they are needed. Essentially, if there is a good snow cover there is no need for remediation, it is only these areas where earth or rock is exposed absorbing the sun's radiaton that need the snow cover to provide the albedo effect. Also open water creates a problem so the turbines on their air cushion barges can be floated out to the nearest ice shelf and use the wind power to steadily increase the ice and snow cover out over the open water to improve (again) the albedo effect.
Yes this is buying time, until we can figure out how to handle the effects of global warming on food production. We have many hybridized food stuffs which grow well in the benign climate conditions which prevailed over the past 100 years or so, and since we would have to hybridize them again because of climate changes we need a bit more time to accomplish that. It is not the complete solution....our wee planet has gone through several changes over the past 10's of thousands of years, but since we have the technology to at least try these ideas at a lot less cost than bailing out banks and auto companies it would be prudent to at least run a pilot scheme as suggested.

So, the latest concerns are not to do with global warming so much as a tipping point where the above scenario takes place suddenly causing rapid changes in climate that food production cannot cope with. You may get your wish by starving to death as would most of the next generation. However, if we give the proposal an honest try the inevitable that you portray could be delayed somewhat and give our species a fighting chance....OK?
Also, if we all died, how would there be a next generation?
:)
Nowhere does it say that the human species is predominantly the cause of global warming. What is offered here is technology to alleviate the rate of global warming by reinstating the snow cover albedo effect in the Arctic....yes buying time, until we can figure out how to handle the effects of global warming on food production for example.
