Hey, this is a great instructable and is very informative. Just one thing is missing... pictures! It really helps a lot when trying to follow directions so you should consider taking some photographs. Once you do that and leave me a message when you have so that we can publish your work. Thanks! Thanks for the cool instructable and we hope to publish this soon!

Thanks a bunch for this tip. I had previously use a cleaner (Triclorotrifluroethane or some similar electrical cleaner) to clean out my son's buttons on his DS. It worked for a short time. He tried this and it seems to work so far --- we'll have to see in the long run.
Simple is always best.

Ha! I spent quite some time disassembling the ds to diagnose the problem. I can't believe it was this easy to fix. Thanks dude.

does anyone know how to fix a ds that started to shut off randomly when i held down "b" or "y" for too long then it just stopped turning on completely? Is there any hope for it??
videogamemaster in reply to globogymApr 1, 2011. 5:34 PM
I'm assuming you have a DS Lite? Well, I think one of two things could be happening here:
1. You could be accidentally pushing the "POWER" switch up and not realizing it until it is too late.
2. Something could be mixed up inside your system. I would try taking a dry toothbrush, without toothpaste, and working it under the "POWER" switch as well as the "Y" and "B" buttons. You might work something loose and fix the problem.

Sorry for replying so late. You probably threw the DS out by now, or had it repaired, but I wanted to at least try anyway.

did you have a complete seas around the key?
eitechsvc says: Feb 21, 2010. 8:23 AM
Worked for me on the second try.  What is really going on is that the moisture from your breath collects on the contacts and if you work the switch wihe its moist  it breaks up the oxidation.  The alternative is to open it up and spray out the switch with "Plastic Safe" contact cleaner.

This is a stupid fix, it only works for about a minute, then quits.

Is anyone else having trouble with the DSi's triggers? I had mine repaired twice, then got a replacement from Nintendo, and they're trying to quit again.

hey if you want your ds completely fixed, take it to a repair shop!
