Hack an Elevator

Hack an Elevator
Hi and this Instructable is on how to hack an elevator. Don't you hate it when some little kid pushes all the floor buttons in a elevator and you're in a hign rise building? Or when your in a rush to get to a meeting. Or do you just want to see the look on peoples faces when all of their floors are missed and you go straight to your level?

That's right. Make an elevator bypass all levels and go to the one you select! Note that this only works on some elevator such as the OTIS brand. Please use with decression!

Step 1Now The Good Part!

Now The Good Part!
Most OTIS elevators have an express mode where the "car" dosen't move faster but instead bypasses all other levels and goes straight to the one you select. To access this, when entering the elevator press the Door Close and the appropriate floor button and watch other peoples faces as the elevator misses their floors and goes straight to your one!

Have fun!

They have special buttons or a special combination for this in hospital elevators, to bypass all the floors in case of an emergency.

I don't exactly know, but it could be only certain models of OTIS elevators that were developed before a certain year... It could depend on how many levels that it can go to... It really depends

I work on elevators for a living and I can tell you this absolutely does not work. You have seen the key holes on the car stations (the panel with the buttons on it)? If you have the proper key you can control the elevator like this but you cant do it the way you have described.

My father works for Otis Elevators as one of their adjustors. I asked him about this and can tell you that it does not work. It is possible that the time you tried this, a glitch occurred and this worked once, but Otis elevators are not programmed to respond to a call that way.

buddy.........just believe us.....it really works....but in some models only.....it works almost in all elevators in toronto...and nearby cities too

Just curious, how do you KNOW that this works, and that there just hasn't been anybody waiting everytime you've tried it? I've heard this before, and tried it, and gone right to my floor, but unless the elevator is clear glass, you wouldn't really know.
Apr 16, 2009. 6:14 PMmknowles says:
I've heard this before and tested on several elevators (OTIS and others) and haven't seen it actually work. I'm perfectly happy to assume it is user error, but it seems like a simple enough thing to attempt. I'll try it some more the next time I'm out.

So ... Press and HOLD the "Door Close" button while simultaneously pressing the button for the floor I want?
Apr 16, 2009. 1:47 PMzuixro says:
I've tried this multiple times in the elevator in my dorm, and I can say with great authority that it does not work for elevators made by "Automatic Elevators Inc" (I think that's the brand)
