You can watch the video (and look at the attached pictures) to see how the connector is actually attached to the Digg Button board. The "hobby stick" is used with the binder clips to hold the connector against the circuit board. I tried several methods and this was the most reliable. I find it works best if the tips of the header pins rest on the Digg Board solder pads rather than sliding them farther down.

The basic process is:

  • Clip the stick on one side to the back of the Digg Button board over the solder pads.
  • Slide the connector between the stick and the solder pads making sure to line the pins and pads up
  • Clip the other side of the stick to apply pressure on the connector

It's pretty easy but might take a little practice.

Once the board is connected, plug the D-Sub connector into either your cable or parallel port.

As you might expect, if anything begins to smoke (highly unlikely), unplug things fast!
