I always wondered if I could come up with a Halloween costume which has no (or minimal) cost, is recyclable and environment friendly, is easy to make and which makes use of creative juices in my brain. So, I came up with this idea and became a PAPER(Craft) MAN!

MATERIALS USED:
- Old Newspapers
- Trader Joe's Paper Bags
- Cardboard
- Colored Craft Papers
- Toilet Paper Rolls
- Glue Stick
- Adhesive Tape (transparent)
- Scissors

Step 1: NEWSPAPER HAT

NEWSPAPER HAT

Materials: Old newspapers and colored craft papers

1) I used this simple, step by step origami guide to create beautiful newspaper hat by Kristi (http://headstylelove.com/a-guide-to-a-beautiful-paper-hat/)
2) Then, I decorated my newspaper hat with some art work (top tassel, craft paper quills and Halloween bat) made with colored craft papers. See the attached images for creating the top tassel, craft paper quills and Halloween bat.
3) Arrange and stick the decorative objects using glue and adhesive tape.

Step 2: PAPER GLASSES AND MUSTACHE

PAPER GLASSES AND MUSTACHE

Materials: Cardboard, Colored Craft Paper, Glue

1) Draw your favorite shape/design glasses on a cardboard and cut the shape as shown in the image.
2) If you like a particular color you can use the cardboard glasses cut in Step 1 as a stencil and cut the same shape on a colored craft paper as shown in the images
3) Stick the colored craft paper on the cardboard cut in the shape of glasses
4) Similarly, cut your favorite mustache shape on a piece of colored craft paper

You can try different colors, I used yellow since it is bright and was providing a contrast.

Step 3: HALF SLEEVE JACKET (Newspaper)

HALF SLEEVE JACKET

Material:
Newspaper, Toilet Paper Rolls, Colored Craft Paper, Glue, Adhesive Tape

1) Take 6 pages of an old newspaper and draw a rough outline of your half sleeve jacket by using any of your shirt/sweatshirt as a reference.
2) Cut the newspaper along the outline that your drew in step 1 (as shown images)
3) Use 3 pages for the front and 3 pages for the back side
4) Join the front and back pieces using adhesive tape

Buttons:
5) For making the buttons, use three toilet paper rolls and decorate them as you like. Stick them on the front of the jacket.

6) You can also decorate your jacket with objects cut from colored craft paper like Halloween bats, quills etc.

Step 4: COLLAR WINGS

COLLAR WINGS (Trader Joe's paper bag)

Materials: Trader Joe's Paper Bags (2), Adhesive Tape

1) Take two Trader Joe's paper bags and remove their bases.
2) Also, remove the paper handles of both the bags.
3) Make one cut along any side vertically and open the bag so that it becomes a sheet of paper.
4) Fold the flat sheet of paper that you got in step 3 by making valley folds (V) and mountain folds alternately (see images).
5) Repeat the above steps for the second bag also.
6) Make a hole at one of the two ends on both the folded sheet of paper (see images).
7) Join the two paper handles with adhesive tape and insert it in the holes created (see images)
