I work on my house and yard almost everyday for the month ofOctober. Trick or treating is only 3 hours, then I have to waitanother 11 months. That's not a good payoff, I like enjoying mydecorations as long as I can.
We begin planning our halloween haunt in june or july with sketches of the years layout and new ideas but it's just a guide, once we actually start working it tends to take on a life of its own. We start setting up about the middle of sept, my 4 kids are grown and married so not everyone is here everynight until the last week, and then its total chaos ! 3-4hrs of trickortreaters and its over = ( What took 6weeks or so to erect is down in 2-3 days and mostly packed away. Some things get overlooked, last year a strobe light was left on the side of the house, this year I "found" a giant spider in the ferns as I was hanging xmas lights.... and that doesn't count the dozen or so decorations in my studio waiting some kind of repair..
