Halloween Frite-Light Tree Lamp

How to make a fun & simple Halloween lamp from a 2 liter soda bottle.

Step 1: Materials & Tools

Materials
One 2 liter plastic soda bottle
One window candle light - plug in or battery operated
Colored spider webbing or batting
small lamp shade
Black spray paint
Flat piece of plastic from a blister pack

Tools:
Heat gun
Heavy work gloves
Xacto knife or razor
Dremel
Scissors

Step 2:

CAREFULLY, cut the top of the bottle off, just below the threads. Next, using the Dremel tool, cut the bottom following the contours of the bottle.

Step 3:

Make sure to put your heavy work gloves on before doing this step! The plastic gets VERY HOT
Using the heat gun, start heating the plastic until it starts to shrink - it is going to shrink a LOT. As it does, the bottom parts of the bottle are going to want to curl. Mine wanted to curl under so while the plastic was still pliable, I pulled them outward to mimic roots. Once you get the 'roots' the way you want them to look, upright the bottle to make sure it sits level. Also make sure that the top opening of the plastic is still wide enough for the top of the window candle to fit through.

Step 4:

Cut a face into the tree using the Dremel tool. Make a small slit on both sides of the tree with an Xacto knife for the branches.
Take a flat piece of blister pack plastic and draw creepy looking tree limbs and cut out using an Xacto knife or scissors. Insert the limbs into the sides of the tree.

Step 5:

Spray paint the tree & limbs with black spray paint. Once it is painted & dry you will not be able to notice the facial features very well, so I took just enough green cob webbing and stuffed it in from the bottom so that the face stands out.

Step 6:

Remove the light bulb from the window candle and Insert it up through the bottom until it come up to the edge of the top. Screw a colored bulb back into the candle, Place the lampshade of your choice on the top and you have yourself a great little lamp that can be used as a "Frite Light" (LOL!) on a bedside table or decoration for Halloween. Best part is it is dirt cheap to make and no 2 lamps will be exactly the same.
