Introduction: Halloween Pumpkin Shaped Carrots

About: museum visit pic

This a easy and healthy treat for kids to take to school for Halloween or a different way  of adding raw carrots to your Thanksgiving table.
My wife made this treat years ago when our kids needed to take something to school for their Halloween parties. Just something to help balance out all the sugar stuff that usually appears at kids school parties.

Step 1: Warning!

This requires a sharp knife, no distractions and carrots.
When using a sharp knife you must pay attention to what your doing, no goofing around or any distractions. This is something for a responsible adult to make. This is not a project for little hands (kids).
Please be careful, I will not be held responsible for any accidents.

Step 2: Peeling the Carrots

Use a carrot/potato peeler to peel the carrot(s), then cut off the top and end of the carrot.

Step 3: Cutting the Carrot

Carefully cut a 1/4 inch deep cut the length of the carrot.
About a 1/4 of a inch from the first cut, make another parallel cut of the same depth the length of the carrot.

Step 4: Cutting the Carrot Continued

At approx. a 45 degree angle to the first cut you made, make another cut the length of the carrot. Do the same angled cut to the second cut you made.

Step 5: Picking Out the Carrot Pieces You Just Cut

Carefully pick out the carrot pieces you've just cut, from both sides.

Step 6: Almost Done

You should now have a carrot that looks like this from the end.
Put it back on the cutting board and cut it in slices.

Step 7: You're Done.

You should know have a pile of carrot pumpkins for kids of all ages to enjoy at Halloween parties and Thanksgiving. The pumpkin shape works well with veggie dip.
Don't forget to compost or eat the carrot peelings and cut off bits.

My daughter Jenni took the pictures.
