Using a number of cardboard boxes, lots of spray paint, nine slinkies, a piece of plexi-glass and some candy, I made my son a Vending Machine costume for Halloween. Because of the weight of the treats, I had to empty the candy by discreetly opening each package in the back, and then filling it with stuffing before glueing it shut.
I copied some warning labels (Caution, machine will tip, etc) and glued them to the side and back of the box.
It was a huge hit!
