Start out by cutting a three strings that are about 1 and 1/3 to 1 and 1/2 the length of your bow. Take all three strings at once and tie three equally spaced overhand knots, using all three strings as if they were one. This will prevent the bow string from tangling up.

Secure the string to the bow by placing the knots at both ends.

You may place the string so that the bow will be on top of the stock when you fire it, or so that the bow will be under the stock when firing it. If you take the second option you may need to fashion different guides, but the arrows will shoot straighter.
