Step 13Yard Sign for Peace

Yard Sign for Peace
There are lots of signs like this in front of houses in Austin Texas.
They're made of the same plastic material as other campaign and roadside advertising signs.
It's a good way to let people know that some Texans favor peace. It'll get you in less trouble than wheatpasting, graffitti, or chaining yourself to a roadblock, and the message is easy to understand.

lists where in Austin to get them for a "suggested donation" of $3 each.

I thought I'd make my own signs just like this. I used www.dafonts.com (thanks Saul!) to find the same font. Looks like Santana Black Condensed. Then I used Gimp to lay it out. Now I'm shopping for a sign printer. More news to come.

#13. Yard signs - very nice end product. Would you explain the steps that you used in going from Santana font to finished sign? It looks like you used one of those standard plastic signboards, with the little "cardboard channels" or hollow spaces to slide in wires.
  • You used Gimp, but how did you produce the Bright Red letters?
  • How did you calculate the space/size to fit onto a certain-sized sign?
  • How & on what did you print?
  • How did you attach to signboard and waterproof?
Like I said, nice Instructible...but I'd appreciate a bit more on How You Did It.

If you read s/he hasn't actually created their own yard sign yet, this is just a "handy tip" to get a yard sign for 3 bucks (suggested).

However, they PLAN to and will update us when they do.
