Hanging Jewelry Organizer from Utensil Holder

Hanging Jewelry Organizer from Utensil Holder
This is probably my favorite DIY I've done so far. It's functional, took some crafty thinking, is totally doable, and will last for quite some time. I'm always looking for new and better ways to organize my jewelry. I've gone from putting them in a plastic grid box from the Container Store, to displaying them in vintage bowls, to storing them in a drawer, but none of these methods really satisfied me. I like being able to see all my jewelry displayed in an organized, uncluttered way. And this little project does just that.

So let's get started....

Supplies:
- 1 wooden utensil holder (I used one from Bed, Bath, and Beyond)
- 4 packs of Small Solid Brass Screw Eyes (5/8 inch)
- 3 packs of Solid Brass Cup Hooks (5/8 inch)
- 1 Picture hanger set
- Measuring tape (optional)
- Pencil
- Hammer
- White Spray Paint

Step 1Mark Where Your Screws Will Go

Mark Where Your Screws Will Go
Mark where you want to put your screws. I put two in each column (for necklaces), and as many as I could fit in the smaller horizontal shelves (for earrings). You can use a ruler if you'd like to space them out evenly.

This is really great! I am thinking that maybe one could use some longish brass screws on the bottom in order to put rings in there also. The hanging jewelry organizers and boxes are all incredibly expensive and very few are in my taste. Thank you for this great idea! I do think that I would not spray paint the hooks. In part because I like brass, but also because a lot of use would chip away at the paint on them anyway.

I'm a fan!

I've been looking for a new, better way to store my baubles. I think I'm going to try this! I had been contemplating a long horizontal wire for earrings, but I like the eye hooks and might try those instead.

Also, bamboo is so pretty, so I'm gonna shop around to see if there are any nickel or gunmetal hooks (I know they make white ones) that will complement the bare wood.

Again, great project!!

I've been using a small cooling rack (for cookies) to hang my earrings from but love this idea for necvklace storage as well. Good thinking!

Good recycling project, very nicely executed, I really like it.

It would scale-up beautifully using a printers type tray - but this is really nice, as well.

I could easily see something like this engineered for chaps as well, with hooks for watches and bracelets, little areas for cufflinks, etc.

That is a beautiful idea! Using a utensil holder is just perfect!
