First things first:

Unscrew the doorknob from the door. There should be 2 screws on the top and bottom of the knob.

You should have 2 knobs.

Place the BB or similar fragment into the open tube of the knob with the button on it. (I believe only the button knobs have this, I'm not sure as I've never taken apart nor am I using a twisty knob.) This will disable the prisoner from unlocking the door with a paperclip through the little hole.

Put the knobs back onto the door but BACKWARDS so that the part with the locking mechanism is on the OUTSIDE of the door, where the prisoner inside the room wont be able to reach it.

Screw it all back together

Now open the door and lock it!

When the victim goes into their room, they most likely wont notice any difference in the knob. When they shut the door, they are locked in! Once they realize that the knobs are switched, it's too late as there is no way to exit the room now!!!!!! HAHAHAHAHA n00b

I pulled this prank on my older sister last year and it worked perfectly! She yelled for about 45 minutes while I watched t.v. before I decided to let her out of her prison. :P

The twisty ones usually have no hole on the other side of the knob because there is a keyhole there. this won't work without jamming the lock. Nice try, but dangerous if you forget to return the lock to working order after

Good prank. One suggestion to pull off the instructible a little more professionally (and don't take this the wrong way - it's something I've seen on eBay as well): consider reflective surfaces and wear appropriate clothing.
