Introduction: Headrest for a Greenspeed GTO

Anyone who rides a trike knows the value of a good headrest. The Greenspeed headrest is very pricey so I decided to see if I could make one myself out of PVC, a wood dowel, and a swimming pool noodle. My trike is the GTO Plus which is, I believe, the largest model of the Greenspeed trikes. You may have to adjust the sizes to fit your trike accordingly. The parts I used are:

(2) 5/8 hardwood dowel 6 and 5/8 inches long
3/4 inch schedule 40 PVC pipe approx. 11 inches
length of noodle approx. 6 1/2 inches
(2) 3/4"    90 degree elbows
(2) 3/4"    45 degree elbows
(2) 3/4" to 1/2" recucers to connect the wood to the pvc
(4) 1 1/2" pieces of pipe
PVC cement
epoxy to connect the wood to the pvc

Dry fit all the parts before gluing to make sure things fit. I haven't removed the labels from the parts yet and I do plan to paint it soon. My headrest is not attached other than the wood dowels inserted into the frame as shown. Haven't ridden with it yet so I don't know if I need to attach it more securely or not. I'll ride it and see. Took me longer to type this up than to build the thing. The color of the noodle was not my first choice but at this time of year it was all the store had left.
