Introduction: Healthy Frothy Chocolaty Drink Serve Hot or Cold
This tasty beverage is my solution to not wanting to drink the sugar laden hot chocolate mixes that are readily available now a days. I know I got this from somewhere a long while ago but it's still my go to winter and summer time treat.
I prefer that my beverages contain natural ingredients and that I include complex flavors to satisfy my palette and "drink my dessert" so to speak. This tasty treat satisfies all my cravings and comes together in a jif.
If you'd like to know about the health benefits of my ingredients..the coca helps satisfy sweet/chocolate cravings, cardamom is a mood enhancer, and cinnamon gets your blood moving. So it's a multipurpose recipe.

Step 1: What You Need...how Much You'll Need.
4cps almond, coconut, or soy milk
coca powder 3 Tblspn
cinnamon 1/2 tsp
cardamom 3-4 pods
vanilla 1/2 tsp
honey 2 Tblspn
rose water 1-1 1/2 tsp
Wooo... it looks like a Penzey's reunion up there..if you haven't noticed I like their spices.
The full fat coca is absolutely wonderful in my humble opinion.
Step 2: Make It!
Follow the amounts and put everything into a heat safe bowl.
If you are making this cold then "heat safe" is not a big deal, or if you like to cook on a stove add your ingredients to a medium sauce pot. I tend to want to do this quick and easy, so I do this in the microwave. I use my blender when I make it a cool refreshing beverage.
So once you have your chosen vessel add all ingredients. If making Cold froth do not add cardamom. If making hot do not crunch your cardamom you'll remove these pods later.
Heat till hot DO NOT BOIL DO NOT SCALD, watch and stir often on stove top, if heating in microwave heat for a min then additional 30 secs to get piping hot. Again do not boil..do not scaled.
Use pot holders or towels to remove from microwave or..remove pot from heat. Remove pods from hot liquid with fork, not fingers. and then move on to the frothing.
Use an immersion blender to whip this up or a blender..note to the wise do not put hot liquids in blender use the immersion blender.
Blend until thick froth forms on top.
Pour into four mugs or one large mug for yourself and enjoy!
