Her absolute favorite cookie is Oreos
So it's no surprise that this Valentine's Day, instead of getting her a box of chocolates, I made my own Oreos and gave them to her
But to make them seem like a Valentine's Day gift, I made them in the shape of hearts
And even made them bigger than the original Oreos
These cookies taste exactly like the origional but have a lot less sugar
Which is great because you could eat more in one sitting
You could even dye the icing pink or red but I knew my wife would love them with white icing
These Oreos are delicious and crispy and I will definitely not be buying them from the store anymore
My wife won't either
Step 1: Ingredients
1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder or sweetened
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
Optional 1 cup sugar. If you are using sweetened cocoa powder you can skip the sugar. But if you want to sweeter cookie you can add in 1/4 cup sugar
1/2 cup butter melted
Step 2: Making the Cookie
Step 3: Making the Filling
1/4 cup room temperature unsalted butter
1/4 cup vegetable shortening
2 cups sifted powdered sugar
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
To make the filling, placed the butter and shortening in a bowl. A large bowl. Beat the butter and shortening together until it is light and fluffy. Gradually beat in the sugar and vanilla extract for 2 to 3 minutes until it gets fluffy. And that's it! :-)
If you want to frost the cookies easier you can put the icing into a piping bag.
Step 4: Stacking and Making the Oreo Cookie
Step 5: Results
These cookies are delicious and crispy sandwiched with a layer or creamy icing.
Who wouldn't love these Oreos.
Especially when they are in the shape of hearts.
I love these cookies and so does my Oreo loving wife
