The project showcased here is a beautiful project where art, technology and charity meet.
Studio Sinth was asked to collaborate with the University Hospital Ghent in Belgium to create several sculptures of the Children's Heart Foundation.
This charity project evolved in a fantastic celebration of the marriage of craft and technology.
The sculptures are inspired on the work of the wonderful artist Giacometti. We created a scenery in 3D using Autodesk 123D to sculpt two parents and a child holding a big heart. The designed 3D model was printed in PLA (a biodegradable thermoplastic aliphatic polyesteron) fine resolution using fuse depositing modelling on a Makerbot printer. After printing the 3D model was casted in Bronze. The bronze sculptures were polished and patinated by hand.
Now presented in the hallways of the Headquarters of the Children's Heart Foundation. The purpose of this collaboration is to raise money. One of the sculptures will be auctioned by the end of November.
