Introduction: Hidden Shank

Picture of Hidden Shank

This is a hidden shank you can make easily for surviving attacks, or for(if you need to) making a trap to catch small game.

Step 1: Prepare the Pen

Use pliers. Remove the ink from the top.

Step 2: Finish

Then take your skuer and stick it in your pen, train to size, and your ready to defend your self!

I have a question that I hope you don't take offense to because I truly don't want to offend you or discourage you from putting your ideas out there.

But is this and the other ("axe") meant to be humor? Or do you feel these are viable tools for survival and self defense?

This a homemade version of a kubaton. When I make mine I will use

a metal skewer trimmed with a cutoff wheel .

While I applaud your ingenuity and thinking outside the box, I would like to warn you about the potential downfalls.
First of all this seems like a way to smuggle a small weapon. I'm not saying there could never be a situation that I would want something like this, but you should probably at least place a disclaimer and explain that there are laws against concealed weapons and you would have a hard time convincing a judge you simply forgot considering the nature of this, especially in a courthouse, airport, school, or other secure location. Honestly it seems like a prison shank.

Second, I would strongly recommend that you take some self defense courses. If the person is close enough to be reached by this, the chances of success are greatly reduced. And the nature of the weapon is such that intent will be difficult to prove (ie was it really self defense).

Again, your ideas are good and I hope you don't take offense at my comment.

believe it or not, I have taken self defense courses, but I find it that the weapon actually helps, considering that when I was there, I was the smallest, now, I didn't use it on anyone, but I find, when defending your self, anything that you can use to help, you should use

Hey man I am not knocking you for grabbing every advantage possible in a self defense scenario. Far from it.

My comment was just to point out some of the legal issues you may face, which might not be worth the trouble if it doesn't give you a clear advantage.

good idea

A kubaton is not a pen with a skewer in it. Kubatons are fairly blunt and not used for stabbing.

jls99 (author)CorgiCritter2015-09-16

Agreed, I believe the one on the keychain is what the intent was. It is my humble opinion that a metal pen would provide almost the same effect with a lot less trouble potential.

CorgiCritter (author)jls992015-09-16

Yep, that's why they make "Tactical pens."

Tactical pens are not very good IMO, expensive and when they have "Gerber" "CRKT" or "Uzi" written on the body of the pen, you will still get in as much trouble as if you had a kubaton.

A study metal pen is almost as good, and writes better then a tactical pen will.

It's a joke. Meant to sound like "Exactly"

CorgiCritter (author)jls992015-09-16

LOL, ok.

tImerang3r (author)jls992015-09-16

honestly, I believe that the 'axe', is more like a prop, but the shank is viable, you can us it for A. catching small game in traps, and B. you can use it for self defense. But thank you for your comment. Any support is appercieated!

Cool idea! I like how unassuming it is.
